Obama Memo to Press: Florida Doesn't Count
Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is encouraging the national media not to fall for a Clinton campaign declaration of victory in Florida's Primary election today, because the state cannot award delegates to the Democratic Party's national nominating convention. Florida and Michigan both were penalized after scheduling early votes without national party approval.

"The Clinton campaign had a (media conference) call that Flkorida should be covered by all you folks in a serious fashion," said Sen. John Kerry, D-MA, and an Obama supporter. "What this race is about right now is delegates. The bottom line is that Florida does not offer any delegates. It should not be a spin race, a fabricated race."

Kerry said Florida is a state where Obama, former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, signed pledges not to campaign after the Democratic National Committee stripped it of delegates for moving its primary date up without national party approval.

Yet Clinton campaign allies, notably the AFSCME labor union has been "spending tons of money" there, Kerry said, to create a symbolic Clinton victory before Feb. 5 elections in 22 states. Moreover, Hillary Clinton will be in Florida tonight, to thank supporters after today's votes are tallied.

13. whether the delegates count or not
Florida does count and should go out and vote. They should let us know who they support. The problem with this country is that we don't vote. That elections are won on low turn-outs. that people are told their voice is not heard. Go out and vote Florida - We're listening.

27. Why is everybody sooo very worried about the Florida delegates now
and not earlier? Oh Clinton needs to use them to get her nomination on back on track.

She will spin the win because that is what she does best. And pretend to be oh so worried about
the Florida voters. Sure, I am not buying your concern or hers.

The party makes the rules. Florida broke the rules. Hillary could have fought it earlier, she did not.

End of story. Stop making stuff up.

They will have no choice.

The Media pressure will be enormous, i think.

Imagine headlines tomorrow "Florida's 1 Million Dem voters don't count" Thats a PR nightmare and a coup for the Repugs.

19. Hillary has worked hard to make this a win.
She wants to use it to reset the tone of the campaign which has not been going her way.

Obama would be foolish to just standby and let her set the narrative.

There was no campaigning; there are no delegates.

All there is, is more Clinton spin as always.

31. You can call it spin
All you want too but since I live in florida I am not happy our vote doesn't count and the fact Kerry stated it wasn't important makes me that much more disappointed. Also, most folks don't know there vote didn't count. Since CNN is covering it, I think most folks in florida will find out.

55. I am not happy about Florida voters either.
I live in Kentucky. Our vote is in May. It never counts, not one time.

I want the votes in Florida to count. The DNC said no.

I just do not want Hilary taking advantage of the bad situation.
And that is what she is trying to do.

There two separate issues. She is trying to use the first issue, voters being left out,
to gain points for her second issue, she wants the votes to count for her even
though Obama or Edwards kept their pledges and did not campaign there.

In other words, Hillary is demagoguing this issue to gain advantage.

Just do not fall for it.

If the comment didn't come from Obama's mouth, it won't hurt too much.
Besides, Kerry didn't think too much about counting the votes in Ohio, so why should he care about counting votes now?
