Rolling Stone: "Kerry Hits Hillary for Florida Flip-Flop"
Reported without comment:

Kerry Hits Hillary for Florida Flip-Flop

The Obama campaign just held a conference call with Senator John Kerry who slammed Hillary Clinton for abandoning her previous commitment not to contest Florida or seek its forfeited delegates.

The Massachusetts senator couldn’t quite bring himself to call the reversal a flip-flop, opting instead for this phrasing — “a switch of position, if you will” — but called on reporters to cover the Florida beauty contest for what it is: “It is not a legitimate race. It should not become a spin race. It should not become a fabricated race.”

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe called Clinton’s campaigning-while-not-campaigning act “too cute by half."

"Our focus is on February fifth,” he said. “Honestly if she’s spending a night in Florida instead of a February fifth state, that’s just fine with us.”

-- Tim Dickinson

2. God forbid she is visiting Florida to thank the supporters who supports and voted for her.
How democratic. That must not be allowed to happen.

where he left it in 2004.
He fucked up his own chance, and he should stop meddling.

5. I'm not here to insult Senator Kerry, merely to say that FL and MI will be seated at the convention.
And he'd be best not to insult two states who will be seated at that same convention.

7. No, actually they won't
Neither of them has a chance to be seated, especially Michigan, where only one major name was on the ballot.

Keep dreaming, though.

8. After the nominee is chosen, yes.
But they will not play a role in selecting the nominee.

10. So they are essentially meaningless
The poster I replied to was implying that they were meaningful, which is completely false. Neither Michigan or Florida will have their delegates seated before a nominee is selected. Thus, they hold no weight at all in the selection process. None. Zero.

15. As a Michigan voter
I believe that's the way it should be. Our non-primary is over, and no one should try to use Michigan delegates to clinch the nomination.

14. I'm a Michigan voter
and Michigan delegates had better *not* be seated at the convention, or there will be hell to pay. Unless, of course, Obama or Edwards wins the nomination and graciously invites Hillary's delegates from the Michigan non-primary to be seated. But if Hillary uses Michigan delegates to win the nomination, many people will rightly feel that she's stealing the nomination.

You can't re-enfranchise a state by declaring after the fact, "Ha-ha, the joke's on you -- we told you the primary wouldn't count, so you stayed home when you should've voted!"

Hillary needs to knock off this "seating Michigan delegates" nonsense.

6. Kerry knows alot about flip-flops.
Nothing to respect about him. He let himself be swiftboated and did nothing about it for a month.
No wonder he supports "unity" koombay-Obama. If you want to remove the right wing from power, vote for Clinton or Edwards.

12. A fight at the DNC convention
I can just picture it now a fight at the DNC convention. People yelling and shouting, fist-a-cuffs. All major news networks will be covering it. That's a scary thought. :(

16. I guarantee you that won't happen. Even if it's contested, Dems will
save arguments to behind closed doors.

Still, I doubt we'll have a contested convention. That is unlikely.

22. There is not going to be any fight at the convention
We will know the winner long before August. The FL & MI delegates will be seated and vote for that winner. I can't understand why people can't see the obvious outcome.

25. One reason is that Hillary
has been making it sound as if she wants to grab the MI and Florida delegates *now*, rather than waiting til after a winner has been declared. If she's made it clear that she only expects them to vote for the winner, and that she's not going to try to use them to clinch the nomination, I hadn't heard about that.

28. I agree, that's what I'm saying
I can't understand the people who think it's about anything other than that because it sure isn't about the convention. It seems to me the teensiest bit of common sense would lead anybody to that obvious conclusion.

I cannot believe he is pulling this schtick out of his repertoire after it was pullwed on him four years ago.

24. He also knows a lot about counting 'every last vote".
I'm still waiting for my money back, John. You know, from those lawyers you had all ready to fight for 'every last vote.

I guess voters only count if voters=delegates. Not a real strong statement on civic responsibility.
