What is the Hillary Campaign officially Calling there Event tonight in FL?
MSNBC seems to be calling it a Victory Party. I'm wondering if she is really that arrogant to call it a victory party herself. Anybody know?

1. That's pretty standard stuff.
I recall attending a John Kerry "Victory Party" here in Florida back in 2004.

2. It doesn't matter if she dubs it...
a "Victory Party" or a "Circus of the Absurd". The delegates don't count.

Who knows what she's doing or why she's doing it.

I think she's playing the role of agitator and deliberately trying to stir
the pot and draw negative attention to herself.

There's no way she would try to cheat in such a blatant, sickening manner.

She can claim "victory" or "Happy New Year" or whatever she wants. It's all
grandstanding. If she goes beyond that and if this is part of her plan to
seat those delegates--that's a whole other thing.

That won't be tolerated.

If she thought the wrath of Ted Kennedy and others in her party were bad--wait
until she tries to pull funny business in Florida. She'll know what wrath
is and she will be eviscerated seven ways to Sunday.

10. It could be worse. Florida COULD have Michigan's unemployment rate.
The wringing of hands and crocodile tears about Florida belie the "GFY!" flung at Michigan. The "Party" would, as I've said, have to TRY to lose the 2008 election. Well, shit-canning two 'swing states' and echoing George W. Bush's "Who cares what YOU think?" to the voters of both states is one helluva good start. If either state votes "blue" in November, it should be regarded as a gift. It sure wasn't earned.

12. There are two different issues at hand....
One, is the issue of Florida voters being disenfranchised. It's an abomination.
Those voters are being screwed by the powers that be, and it should have NEVER
happened. The citizens of Florida deserve better than their pathetic leaders who let them down.

SECOND---no legitimate election took place. The candidates AND the voters are all operating
under the assumption that the delegates won't count. How many Dem voters stayed home and
didn't vote---because they were told that their votes wouldn't count? I'm glad that some
Dem voters are voting anyway---but this is not a legitimate election--because all Florida
Dem citizens were told that there votes wouldn't count. Millions won't show because of this.

You cannot retroactively seat delegates assigned from an election that happened when the entire
Florida Dem electorate believed that the election was meaningless.

Please don't throw up a red herring---and accuse people of not having empathy for the citizens
of Florida. There is great concern for the Dem Florida voters.

There was no legitimate election...that is the point.

20. Florida disenfranchised itself by not backing away from moving
its AGREED UPON primary date.

If Florida voters have a problem with that, take it up with the Florida Democratic Party. Put the onus where it belongs.

31. So, the Florida legislature had no role? The Florida GOP?
And the "response" of the national Party is to tell the VOTERS to fuck off? He;;, even the GOP is giving them HALF the representation ... instead of NONE. So much for that "lesser evil" standard, huh?

It's the typical approach of elitists ... when the Generals screw up, shoot the privates.

32. You know it is your elected officials who did this. Why do you blame it on everybody else.
They made a law. Your are subject to it. Just like any other.

Do you think the Primary result will be valid. The whole state knows no delegates are being awarded. Don't you think this will affect turnout and thereby the final results?

Flawed Primary results cannot be used to award Delegates which play a deciding role in the nomination.

If the Nominee already has there 2025, that is one thing, the delegates might be seated.
But if Hillary tries to use MI or FL to get to 2025, she will be rejected.

23. No. They don't.
The party will not seat any delegates from Florida because the Florida Democratic Party violated the agreed upon schedule of primaries.

Take it up with your state party if you don't like it.

25. Can you tell me why you think...
the delegates will count toward the total number of delegates?

I'm not in Florida, so there might be something that I've missed.

I've read a few articles and the general consensus in the media
is that "the Democratic delegates won't count".

Can you tell me where I've misunderstood?

Rules are rules and the fact that Hillary showed up at 2 fundraisers this week pre-primary (whereas the Obama and Edwards events were without the candidates) seems a bit unfair...

27. All of the Dem voters in Florida...
...were operating under the assumption that their votes would not count,
because the delegates would not be seated.

Millions of Dem voters sat at home, because they were told the Florida
election results would not be factored into the election.

You're actually suggesting that this "election" means anything?

You're going to be happy about a "win" that represents an election
that is not representative of the wishes of the Florida voters?

How absurd.

26. Tell me again, how this ISN'T campaigning?
What a crock of dirty tricks.

Clinton supporters had the audacity to cry foul over Obama's
national ads that ran on cable---but I'm sure they'll find no
problem with this flyer---which is a form of campaigning.

Using surrogates to campaign is still campaigning.

Hillary Clinton is a weasel. A low-class, weasel.

Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 01:58 PM by TwoSparkles
That's the first I've heard of that.

Is this something you're pulling out of your ear?

I have to say, that's pretty rich--coming from someone
who is supporting a candidate who didn't take her name
off of the ballot.

I think we can all see where this is going...

The fact that you Hillary supporters would enthusiastically
support her dirty tricks, is really beyond the pale. I would
never support Obama pulling a stunt like this.

In the end, she'll be lambasted if she tries it. I hope
she does. I'd love to see her campaign implode and the
entire Democratic party showcase what a lying, cheating
weasel she is.

Go ahead Hillary! I dare you to advocate for those FL and MI
delegates counting in an election where the entire Dem electorates
in those states assumed that their votes would not count.

Just try to legitimize those numbers and throw your fellow
Dem comrades under the bus.

30. Taking the names off the ballot was a political stunt that Obama bandwagoned onto.
And the Conyers(who even mentioned Obama at rallies touting uncommitted) were instrumental in starting the push for uncommitted after Hillary made her NH comeback.

"I would
never support Obama pulling a stunt like this."

No you would just rationalize it away like any other DU supporting a candidate.

I love your unbelievibly high opinion of yourself when you have shown that you can be as blind a partisan as any here on DU.
