Edwards supporters- if Obama committed to picking J.E. for V.P., and
J.E. dropped out and endorsed Obama, would you vote for Obama in the primaries?

1. Obama supporter: First, I'd have to change my pants.
Then, I'd have to change my pants again.
Then, I'd be very very happy.

2. Too many steps. I can't get past the notion that JRE would be unlikely to
accept the veep nom, were it to be offered.

I think he would be more inclined to consider it from Sen. Obama than from Sen. Clinton.

But I think he's applying for the top job and will arrive in Denver with some serious chips.

15. Hi, SharonAnn. If we start with our original 8 Democratic candidates,
we have a boatload and a half of incredible talent and experience and insight and energy and vision.

All that good stuff, and plenty of it.

The Pukes got nothin'.

So yes, if my guy isn't the nominee, I'd love to see him in any role where he could elevate public support for worthy things. Your suggestions would be excellent, and I might throw in Attorney General. Bush has nominated 3 AGs, all of them skullduggerous jerks, and we could sure use a sane and just and humane soul in charge of that department.

3. Probably.
He's my second choice anyhow, and I'd hope Edwards could influence Obama to move away from some of his more establishment/corporatist positions and some of Edwards' populism might rub off. I can hope, anyhow.

4. Me too. I was for Edwards first, but I pretty quickly
realized he wouldn't win. I'm just going for Obama because he has the best chance of beating Sen. Clinton and ensuring we actually win the White House.

9. I'm sticking with Edwards for now.
I'm in a Super Tuesday state and I want him to make a good showing so he can at least have some influence at the convention.

22. I sure do. The difference I see between our candidates is that between
Obama and Edwards....and, on the other side, Clinton.

I don't think Obama and Edwards will be that different from each other. CLINTON, on the other hand, will be ENORMOUSLY DIFFERENT.

THAT is conviction. :)

25. I think Edwards talks to the left of where he would act as President.
I think Obama is probably about on target as to where he is talking, and Edwards would be in about the same spot.

And I think Clinton would be enormously more right wing than she is even letting on.

32. No, it seems pretty obvious to me,
especially considering Edwards' voting record. I think he means a lot of what he says, and he understands a lot of the problems with our leadership's approach to politics, but he talks pretty big, and as far as policy what he has said isn't even that different from Obama.

You're getting taken in by presentation- which I like as well, because leadership matters- but when it comes down to it, if Obama is more likely to beat Clinton, I think Edwards should drop out and give all of his support to Obama.

And I don't think either match is in the offing.

8. Would you quit with these stupid "if" scenarios?
I'm not considering a second choice until I hear the words from John Edwards himself.

And I don't vote for a second-choice candidate just because my first-choice candidate tells me to.

While some miracle might happen between now and the GE, I can't see myself ever voting for Clinton or Obama --- it'd be write in or independent.
