I just got back from the State Party caucus training, ask me anything!
our little county (50K pop.) had our Caucus Volunteer training tonight

we had almost 40 people show up!! The state party representative for our Congressional District (THANK YOU DR. DEAN!!!!) said it was the best attended county meeting she'd been to, especially since we're so small.

there was even an Obama volunteer (I think she was a volunteer??) there trying to drum up support.

the Democrats are sure motivated this round :bounce:

5. Have so much fun and take lots of pictures!
I'm in Iowa, so I went through this a few weeks ago!

What a historic moment, and what a thrill!

I didn't know that Arizona had caucuses. Have you always had caucuses?

So, are you excited?

That's wonderful that there is so much excitement in the air! It's really a wonderful
feeling, isn't it? You feel like you're a part of the process and that what you do,
affects our democracy. I'm excited for you!

In Iowa, our Dem caucus participation increased 100 percent from 04. In our precinct,
people were lined up for an hour, just to register to vote, so they could participate
in the caucus. It was so much fun!

Cherish this special time...with all of the ads, the phone calls, the pollsters and
the campaign appearances.

Have a great time, and please keep us posted! :)

8. I"m in New Mexico now and we don't do it like Iowa does
it's basically like a regular election except instead of the County Clerk running it, the State Party runs it.

I'll be there all day and we count the ballots after the polls close.

by hand.

13. Awesome...
...counting the votes by hand.

That's what the rest of us should be doing!

Again, have fun with your caucus!

6. I think the DNC 50 state plan will not get much credit...
but I think the large turnouts in the primaries so far are due in part to the on the ground activity.

Needless to say it will go mostly unnoticed and fade away as Dean leaves.

10. I hope not, it's great the DNC helps the state parties
we're a traditionally red area of a very purple state.

it will be interesting to watch

11. Did you interfere in people voting!?!? Are you evil!?!? Do you hate democracy?!?

Just playing around, good to see someone who isn't so disillusioned about the process. :)

15. funny you should mention it. We are a closed caucus and the DNC lady
stressed over and over to let anybody who comes in to vote, they'll have to do it provisionally, but we (and I quote her) "are the party of inclusion, make folks feel welcome and thank them for voting"

she said, "Even if you know your next door neighbor is a Republican, welcome them and give them a ballot" and they have it set up so that the provisional ballots can be checked without anyone knowing what the vote held, they'll be in a double sealed envelope. First envelope will have the affidavid, if it's from a registered Dem the sealed ballot envelope will be placed in the "Count em later" pile. If they aren't a registered Dem, the sealed ballot will go in the "Do not count" pile

:woohoo:
