When fact checking comes into play, we all lose.
When we have to spend so much time in the primaries dealing with getting to reality, there's a problem.

4. Allow me to clarify
When our debates have gotten so muddled that we need an independent agency to come in and sort out lies from truth, we have a problem. This only ramped up in the last few days since things have gotten testy.

7. there are no independent agencies-only media spin - of all the news "fact checking" CNN has come
closest to a balanced report - but even there it depends on the talking head on the screen.

MSNBC tried to do a "fact check" on the last debate and on the 5 statements being reviewed, the 4 talking heads were not in agreement as to Obama, or Clinton, being the liar - on any of the statements.

We are left with Google - and our own opinion.

2. I agree
Supporters need to accept that their candidates ain't perfect and have the decency (or at least intelligence) to double-check their info before they Post what turns out to be easily verified and disproved b.s.

If you're proven wrong, apologize and move on.

5. Culture of lies.
Dishonesty has become acceptible behavior in the American Corporate media- and that's spread throughout other aspects of society.

Krugman commented on this quite a while back:

“If Bush said the earth is flat, of course Fox News would say ‘yes, the earth is flat, and anyone who says different is unpatriotic.’ And mainstream media would have stories with the headline: ‘Shape of Earth: Views Differ.’…and would at most report that some Democrats say that it’s round.” There’s “something deeply dysfunctional,” he observed, with established media facing “something we’ve not seen before, an epidemic of lying about policy.”
