Anyone Here Who Desires to Vote for Edwards in Their Primary
Please consider this (I'm gonna get this in GD before they pull all the primary threads, forgive me this one, please)

Please consider finding your local Edwards campaign HQs and volunteer for him before your primary.

You can get a list of voters from your Democratic office HQs, from Edwards' campaign offices if your city has one, or even your Registrar's office -- it's public info.

Call people and ask them to vote for Edwards. Call your friends and family and do the same. Tell them it is too soon for the corporate media to choose our candidate for us.

Write a short script out that touches on why YOU support him -- tell voters you feel so strongly that you decided to volunteer.

If you're not comfortable calling, then you can do other things, like drop literature at door steps, drive people to the polls, bring food to other volunteers.

I really encourage this and wish I had started earlier with the Edwards folks here where I live -- I mentioned this in another thread -- but I had to stop volunteering back in early fall when I started a new job.

I'm serious folks. Edwards needs help and he needs volunteers.

2. It isn't quite that easy.Edwards doesn't have many offices. Most states don't have any.
You might have to call Chapel Hill for an advisor.I did.

3. But the Dem party and the reqistrar's offices have phones and addresses of voters
and as a volunteer for Edwards, you can make these calls on your own.

Was Chapel Hill able to give you any info -- anybody to connect with?

17. One call to Chapel Hill is not a big deal, if that's the worst case, is it?
:)

20. No, not at all!
I was just offering up a proactive alternative for those who don't want to delay. Some primaries are coming up and if they're having to wait to get connected -- valuable time is lost! Remember, sometimes the best time to call is the night before an election or the morning of. :)

24. You bet! We have four days before SC.
I wish we could download numbers like MoveOn gave us here before the recall. I got to make a bunch of calls even though I couldn't be in Los Angeles.

Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 11:27 PM by Emit
If I can call voters in other states, I'm willing to take the time.

On edit, do you still have the Moveon lists?

29. No. Those were made up specifically for the recall.
I've signed up for the local Edwards lists and they aren't that active.

Maybe I need to call the HQ, too. :)

40. as far as connecting
at Edwards web site, there is the One Corps, which perhaps has a group in your area. There is one in mine, although it is not very active.

You don't have to write it yourself.

16. Sometimes it's nice to personalize those scripts, though
It puts that personal quality to what might appear as a robo-call.

Did you get the script on line or do you have an Edwards office locally?

14. An after thought, too. If he has no local office in your area --
I would get over to your Democratic Party Offices and see if they have Edwards' literature, buttons and signs -- hopefully you have a local Dem HQ -- Anyway, tell them you need to contact an Edwards rep and see if they can put you in touch with other Edwards' supporters.

25. Yes
The Onecorp captain in your area is going to be the volunteer coordinator for your area.

I think originally, the idea was to get Edwards volunteers out in the community doing good things in addition to and as a way of campaigning. But, given how hard it is to get volunteers at all, it morphed into the same thing.

If you put in your zip code, it will give you a list of events. Most of these probably won't be near you. But if you scroll down further, it will give you a list of one corp chapters. If you click on the chapter nearest you, the captain(s) will be listed first and their names will be in red.

Click on his/her name and it should give you a profile with the email address.

12. I'm waiting for my signs to come
I live in the city and there are a couple of buses that travel up and down my street. It's not the main drag, but it's busy enough. And the polling place is around the corner and 2 blocks up. My signs will be able to be seen, coming from north or south.

15. Oh, and tomorrow I am taking my son to the doctor
I have printed out 2 of "The Plan to Build One America" booklets and am going to conveniently forget to take them when I leave the doctor's waiting room. And while printing them, I got some ideas about flyers and 4x6 cards to put around town. Oh, and I live in Central NY, so I know I'm walking against the wind.

And it matters not where you live -- so he may not have a chance in NY especially, but if you can convince just one person, who might convince just one more, etc.
