I am shocked what Clinton said to Brokaw about her adoration of Reagan
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 09:36 AM by Perky
Brokaw writes that Clinton “believes that modern conservatives such as Karl Rove are ‘obsessed’ with defeating her.”

“She prefers the godfather of the modern conservative movement, Ronald Reagan,” Brokaw writes on Page 404. “He was, she says, 'a child of the Depression, so he understood it . When he had those big tax cuts and they went too far, he oversaw the largest tax increase. He could call the Soviet Union the Evil Empire and then negotiate arms-control agreements. He played the balance and the music beautifully. "

This is absolutely disgusting and contemptible she is practically gushing at his abilities

:sarcasm:

1. Considering What Kind of Father and Grandfather Reagan Was
she's welcome to him. I had a grandfather worth having. He survived the Depression, too. And he didn't commit treason like Reagan.

3. But did your grandfather die in the late 60's, the way Reagan did?
Really, his presidency can be attributed to Conservatives' need for a pharoah and the twin miracles of embalming fluid and animatronics.

7. Granpa Died in 1999, and I'm Grateful He Didn't Have to Live Through 2 Depressions
It would have killed him.

4. That is not happening
And Obama did not say he supported Reagan's policies. He said that Reagan did a good job getting both sides behind his policies and that is something Obama wants to do as well. Is that so bad? to get everyone behind good policies for a change?

6. Obama was in college when Reagan was elected
and when he graduated from Columbia went back to work to help people on the South side of Chicago, where to my knowledge, there were very few Reagan lovers. Then after Law school, he again chose to help people hurt by the Reagan revolution. Obama was not a politician in the Reagan years - but his actions show what his values were.

There are very few politicians who took Reagan on in the 1980s when he was in office - I don't remember Richardson being one, but I am not that familiar with his record in Congress. He did start as a staffer to a Republican Congressman and then worked in the Kissinger State Department per Wikipdedia.

10. My mother was a child of the Depression and she detested Reagan
She saw Reagan as a B rated actor and a B rated President. Course that's higher than the F rated Prez we have now

11. my dad knew ronny reagan in dixon
my dad figured that after he was shot ronny went down hill and by the start of the second term he was basically sleeping during the rest of those years. when he was asked about what he knew about central america...he really could not remember.

as for a child of the depression, ronny never had much but he did have a lot more than others. what ronny excelled at was sucking up to the rich folks in dixon and he was good at that..

"He played the balance and the music beautifully " yes he did..to get what was best for him and no one else
