America isn't buying the "War on Terror", we're just paying for it.

If polling in the recent primary/caucus contests are representative, American voters at this point, don't see the 'War on Terror' as a primary concern as we choose a new President. Most exit tabulations show the economy as a leading issue for many of us. Iraq, when noted has usually come in third, after domestic financial and health care concerns.

It's an interesting turn of events. Have we become numb? Has the media focus moved on? Has this Administration played the terror card once too often on its slim set of assumptions? Have we turned the corner? Have we just grown tired of the sound and fury, signifying nothing?

Another point worth note, almost none of the presidential candidates - of either party - mention Mr. Bush.

Withdrawal from Iraq, in some way shape or form seems a given. The economic crunch we face is another.

I think the costs of our misadventure in Iraq, our personnel losses, our blatant blank check approach and our disregard for Iraqis themselves is a big undercurrent in this election.

The nation was sold a bill of goods and we are paying for it.

Maybe voters' focus on domestic issues is a realistic attempt to change things where we have some immediate influence. Maybe we can't change the gang culture this Administration seems to favor, but we can staunch the flow of blood here at home.
