TONIGHT'S DEBATE gives each candidate an opportunity to turn the page...
If OBAMA is serious about UNITY, he needs to clarify his comments and decisions regarding gays, boomers and liberals ~ and move forward with a reunited Dem party.

If HILLARY is the TRUE DEMOCRAT, she needs to reaffirm her willingness to take on the Bushies and distance herself in a meaningful way from the players and policies of the current administration.

If EDWARDS wants to stand FOR THE PEOPLE, he needs to broaden his message to include different socioeconomic and geographic groups.

That's what I'm going to be watching for anyway ~ I'd really like to believe that we'll be in good DEMOCRATIC hands with any of these candidates in the WH.

1. Somehow it slipped past me that
there was a debate this evening. Could you (or someone) post details -- time, channel, moderators, that sort of thing?

2. Thanks for the reminder, but...
I am trying to remember where Edwards excluded anyone, and has even made it a point to assist the less advantaged in our society. He has singled out the corporate groups and lobbyist who are constantly manipulating the government processes to work against the citizens of the USA.

4. I've been leaning toward Edwards, so I say this with great kindness...
imo he focuses on the poor, and mill workers specifically, too much ~ lots of people have trouble relating. I think he'd do himself a favor by changing up the language some.

6. Really? In the last debate he seemed to talk about the middle class more
than the poor, even.

8. Well, he's missing the boat somewhere...
I don't think it's the message, but the language ~ he uses terminology that works in some places (rural areas, mill towns, parts of the South) but seems foreign and a little retro to many urban and suburban ears. I've lived in a lot of states and cities, but half my family is from the rural South ~ I really get him, but also understand why a lot of people don't.

imo he needs a good writer who can help him use more inclusive language to get across the same ideas.

11. Obama hands him the scripts...
...by preaching unity but not practicing it with regard to his own party. If Barack made things right between himself and all those he has insulted and distanced, Bill and other surrogates would have much less material to work with.

15. No, it doesn't.
It closes the book on the most important voice; the one that offers the most authentic difference and change.

I won't be tuning in.

18. His Message
I'm backing Edwards at this time. If nothing else, he has caused both Hillary and Obama to take a left turn.

It has always puzzled me though. If he was such a great trial lawyer, why can't he find the right language to show what's lacking in his opponents' platforms? If he could beat corporations, he should be doing better against these two who have swiped his message.

19. He sure has changed the conversation - thank goodness!
I think it would help a lot to hire a first rate wordsmith ~ not to change his message, but to put it in words that resonate with more people.
