Obama: Death by a thousand cuts.
some bigger than others...

but the BLATANT, anti-gay shit is the INEXCUSABLE!

Hillary has her faults, but compared with the two, I can never ever vote for that asshole if he's the nominee...

If obama is the nominee - I will vote "present" - I'm sure he'll understand!...

11. You are right...Obama is not anti-gay
What is despicable is the liars out here who deliberately spread falsehoods. Lying is about as low as a person can go....pretty much dehumanizes oneself to lie. I bet more people on a deep down level hate liars a heck of a lot more than anyone hates gays.

7. So how many gays died in Iraq?
If you are gonna talk about a thousand cuts....I dare say thousands of American and Iraqi citizens who were gay died as a result.

Did any of Obama's votes or positions kill as many gays?

8. I understand. But no. No.
Because that blundering ass is less a danger to you than more Republican appointments to the Supreme Court. THEY will decide what horrors can be done with impunity. Not him. He will be challenged in THEIR court. Or in the Congress (We only have two years, after all, not four). But the Court will last our lifetime.

We must take back our courts. And we have no other way to do it.

So I beg you to reconsider refusing to vote for the Democrat if it's Obama.

Take Dramamine, Composine, or bring a barf bag. But vote for the Democrat in November.

35. I HAVE to assume that about the Democrat.
He has two years to prove himself to the electorate or the Congress returns to the other party. In 4 years he has to get re-elected and he doesn't want a primary fight in his own party.

If it's any comfort, I wouldn't bank on the depth of that religious fervor. There was vast political expedience in the choice of that church.

30. And reasonably so.
But calling them "bots" won't help, either. Nor "deranged cultists" nor "overprivileged messiah-worshipping lazy-brained twits," or any of the other things that would trip lightly off my tongue if there were not rules here and because I am so highly evolved.

Politics is never about getting it our way. It's ALWAYS about making the best deal we can. (Which would not happen if my sister were God, as she frequently informs me, because she would do a better job.) When things shake out and we see what we've got to work with, that's what we'll do. Make the best deal we can and watch whoever wins the presidency like a hawk because it ain't never the messiah in that job.

17. None with any national merit
HRC will not endorse in the primaries and neither will any other national organization. However local groups and local papers do endorse candidates in primaries - but the endorsements mean very little to most GLBT voters at this point, the general election is an entirely different matter.

21. this is what obama said today at dr. king's church
in front of thousands of black christians, many homophobic, and dr. king's family and friends

And yet, if we are honest with ourselves, we must admit that none of our hands are entirely clean. If we're honest with ourselves, we'll acknowledge that our own community has not always been true to King's vision of a beloved community.

We have scorned our gay brothers and sisters instead of embracing them. The scourge of anti-Semitism has, at times, revealed itself in our community. For too long, some of us have seen immigrants as competitors for jobs instead of companions in the fight for opportunity.

Every day, our politics fuels and exploits this kind of division across all races and regions; across gender and party. It is played out on television. It is sensationalized by the media. And last week, it even crept into the campaign for President, with charges and counter-charges that served to obscure the issues instead of illuminating the critical choices we face as a nation.

29. So you support Hillary even though she has homophobes on her web site and payroll?
Why does the Hillary Clinton campaign get a free pass with their homophobic support? Some homophobes who are not only on Hillary's web site, but one is even getting paid $10,000 a month:

There's Rev. Harold Mayberry:
I'm comfortable in what I believe in. I'm not rejecting people. As God loves, we love. I don't reject thieves, I reject thievery.

He's talking about homosexuality as thievery. Oh, but wait! He's on Hillary's web site: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=2857

Then there's Darrell Jackson, who made this statement regarding his opposition to same-sex marriage and has renegotiated a nice $10,000 contract with the Clinton team:

Now, we know how we feel on this issue, and I've allowed my position to be known more than anybody else. I stand here as someone who is a pastor to a congregation of a whole lot of people, and I've said it to them and I'll say it to anyone else. My personal moral position is what I believe and what I subscribe to. I don't have to come here and try to legislate it...There is little doubt in this body what will ultimately happen with that issue. That is a forgone conclusion.

http://www.scstatehouse.net/sess116_2005-2006/sj05/20050413.htm

He's also on the Hillary web site endorsing her: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=1339

Then there's Clinton's South Carolina co-chairs, John Matthews and Linda Short. Both voted for the bill in South Carolina to ban same-sex marriage.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1007/Gay_rights_in_SC_contd.html

Then there's Bill Clinton, who signed the hateful, anti-gay rights Defense of Marriage Act into federal law, campaigning for Hillary Clinton openly.

Both he and Hillary were openly for the Act at the time of his signature.

Add the anti-gay "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" legislation. Sure, Hillary wants to stop it now, but has done NOTHING since she's been Senator to change the laws.

These are people that are ON the Clinton campaign web site and/or are paid by the campaign.

Where's the outrage?

33. that's your decision...
But Obama has voted against an constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and says that he'll work to repeal DOMA. If he is the Democratic nominee, he's likely to be running against somebody who actively supports an amendment to ban both gay marriage AND civil unions. Obama sponsored a hate crimes bill in IL that includes sexual orientation and gender identity. His opponent is likely to be someone who is against such a bill. Obama is stupidly hung up on the word "marriage," but he says that he supports recognizing that committed gay couples are entitled to all the rights of marriage, including adoption, immigration sponsorship, tax benefits and all the rest. His opponent is likely to be someone who will work to deny those rights.

Even if the Obama is disrespectful enough to use homophobic bigots to campaign for him, isn't he still better than the alternative?

I understand that you are sick of settling and won't support Obama in the primary. (Personally, I'm supporting Edwards for the time being and will otherwise remain neutral until the nominee is picked).

But if the general election sticks the LBGT community with the choice of at least maintaining and maybe moving forward and definitely moving backward...
