Give me someone like a Mario Cuomo in his prime over anyone we have running today
Then and only then would you have someone who could win the election without reaching out to filthy Republicans and without compromising a single Democratic principle to do it.

Then and only then would you have someone who would look out for the best interests of blacks, women, gays, lesbians, and any other minority, and he wouldn't have to be black, female, or gay himself to get the job done for ALL of the peoples' best interests.

Then and only then would you have someone who's not only brilliant politically, but someone who TRULY inspires when he speaks.

5. So true! His loss was one of the most devastating to our party.
But, I have a feeling he just wasn't good looking enough for some pathetic people. If I remember correctly...he was the Governor of NY when we lived there. What years was he Governor and when was he running for president? Do you remember?

8. To answer your questions, 1983 to 1994 and he never ran for president, unfortunately.
Personally, I think he's the best candidate never to be a candidate.

9. I thought he was incredibly sexy, and often wondered if he refused to run out of distaste for seeing
details of past romantic liaisons writ large in the Murdoch-style press.

10. Now I remember...he was just contemplating it...similar to Boomberg.
We moved to VT in '82...that must be why my memory is so foggy. However, we always listened to Daige (sp?) (whom I miss) and Chris K. or J. (whom I also miss but love seeing her on MSNBC) so we still got all the Albany news and I :loveya: Mario Still do. I hope he makes some of his famous, intelligent, persuasive speeches on Hillary's behalf. That would be super!

7. Yes, He is truely brilliant
He would have been a remarkable president and an even better Supreme Court Justice. In his time he was a fatally flawed candidate due to his New York Italian American background not playing well outside the Northeast. (IMO)...

Beyond being a Politician he is an intellectual whose critical thinking on issues could not be topped.
