ORWELLIAN DOUBLESPEAK becomes the official language of DU
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 08:42 PM by ClericJohnPreston
When it's members prove themselves so malleable, they actually fall before the illogic and manipulations of "SPIN".

I thought "1984" Orwellian "Doublespeak" was a nightmare vision of a fictional Totalitarian regime. Yet, it is alive and well here at the DU forums.

Are you all so desperate to win at all costs, that you actually now spin what a "win" means?

I thought Bush's , "WAR IS PEACE" and "KNOWLEDGE IS IGNORANCE" rhetoric was just a part of his Republican foisted nightmare. Now, I find that partisans on this board have accepted this pretzel logic in preference to truth.

The moment you have sunken to Orwellian politics and doublespeak, your "win" is a pyrrhic victory.

Being an Edwards supporter, I can honestly say that sometimes it is better to fight and lose, than never to have tried at all. It is only after some of these "victories", that anyone with perspective can see how we all have lost, if winning means we become what we hate.

Sorry, but in my proud VERY left Progressive view of the world, we have all lost when you are reduced to DOUBLESPEAK in order to claim a "WIN".

Sad, very sad.......

1. "... you actually now spin what a "win" means?"
That's an affirmative.

I really have a problem with people putting words in my mouth! I'd appreciate it if you stopped.

11. You put the words there
I characterized them. As a lawyer, I'll take the characterization back. But, are you trying to refefine what a "WIN" means? You answer. Or not. In this case, the words speak for themselves.

In Latin, we would say, RES IPSA LOQUITUR.

13. Your question was...
"Are you all so desperate to win at all costs, that you actually now spin what a "win" means?"

I said, essentially, YES.

Both Clinton and Obama supporters are claiming victory, so it seems it IS an affirmative.

I never said I was proud of either side doing it. I support Edwards.

Pursuant to whomever the poster supports. :D

6. In the early states, winning the vote is what's more meaningful
for perception purposes. (Though at this point, Obama and Clinton are in all the way, so perception doesn't really matter as much as it does, say, on the Rep side.) Come Super Tuesday, it is all about delegates.

9. "I Was Against The War From The Very Beginning"
Enough of these Democrats suggesting that keeping nuclear bombs "on the table" and giving Bush an opening to invade Iran are the way to peace.

10. It's the official language of America
and its culture of lies all around.

Don't see that changing any time soon.
