John King: Edwards camp says it will continue even if it loses South Carolina
He mentioned they are thinking Edwards may become a kingmaker at the convention if he stays in. What he didn't mention but is obviously a factor is the chance Edwards may catch lightening in a bottle if Obama and Hillary keep sniping or one falters. There is nothing for Edwards to gain by quitting. If he stays in he still has a chance to win, either outright or as the compromise convention choice if Hillary and Obama tear the party apart, and if he doesn't he has an excellent chance of bartering his delegates for the VP position.

4. Yes, Press Release:
EDWARDS CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON NEVADA CAUCUS RESULTS

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – John Edwards for President campaign manager, former Congressman David Bonior, released the following statement about today’s Nevada caucus results.

“Congratulations to Senator Clinton for her win in Nevada. Our campaign is very grateful to all those who demonstrated the loyalty and dedication to stand up for John Edwards in the face of very difficult circumstances and long odds, including our brothers and sisters in Nevada from the Carpenters, Steelworkers, Transport Workers, and Communications Workers of America.

“John Edwards is the underdog in this campaign, facing two $100 million candidates. But that is nothing compared to the real underdogs in our country – working men and women, middle class families, and all those who have no voice in Washington.

“John Edwards is in this race to fight for the real underdogs and to make sure the voices of the American people are heard in Washington, not the special interests. That’s why he’s the only candidate in this race who has never taken a dime from PACs or Washington lobbyists; the only candidate who will ban corporate lobbyists from his White House; and the only candidate who is honest enough to say we are in a fight for our country and we need to take on the special interests if we are going to have a country that works for hard-working families and the middle class.

“The race to the nomination is a marathon and not a sprint, and we’re committed to making sure the voices of all the voters in the remaining 47 states are heard. The nomination won’t be decided by win-loss records, but by delegates, and we’re ready to fight for every delegate. Saving the middle class is going to be an epic battle, and that’s a fight John Edwards is ready for.”

3. JE should remain in until the convention for exactly those reasons.
I still want Edwards in the White House, and I see no reason for him to drop out before the convention.

9. I hope that one of the three media candidates drops out sooner...
than later. I think a three way race like we have now will guarantee a Clinton victory because I doubt a majority of Edwards supporters and Obama supporters would throw their vote to Clinton. As long as Obama and Edwards split up the anti Clinton voters, she wins. Its just strange that neither of them see it taking place. I would figure with the way Edwards and Obama seem to think each of them would be the change candidate and not Clinton, they would realize that splitting the votes only gives it to Clinton and also keeps some of the states close enough to be stolen. Thats the way bushler did it before, keep the results and polls looking close so the sheeple just think..." aw man, it was so close and we lost again...damn!"

I think the elite realize that the sheeple may wake up in a bad mood if another republican gets in and I would guess that by the media coverage that Clinton is almost guaranteed the oval office so the country can relax because a democrat is in office, so everything is ok again. :sarcasm:

11. No evidence has ever been produced to show Edwards and Obama supporers overlap
They will probably split more or less evenly. Clinton has high favorable ratings in the party. There is no anti-Hillary vote outside of the blogosphere.

16. I disagree. He has a lot to gain by quitting.
He is something of a kingmaker is some states, and his voters, if put up for grabs, could make the difference between Clinton or Obama as the nominee.

If Edwards only got 4% with a fairly major effort...
http://www.lvrj.com/news/13860997.html

I think it's time to give it up and use whatever leverage he has by endorsing one of the other candidates.

17. He ran no ads in Nevada. He didn't make a serious effort there until this week

An endorsement means little. Delegates he can control and barter for a VP slot. There is also the chance of him emerging as the compromise candidate if Hillary and Obama divide the party enough by then. Plus 46 states have yet to vote.
