And what is with these Superdelegates.

The whole system is awful.

Maybe we do need a third party, so we can chuck all these archiac machine politics.

1. None of it, not one single bit of this, is undemocratic.
Any person can run without the blessing of a political party. If, however, you want the blessing of a political party, which is a PRIVATE ENTITY, you play by their rules. Quit the melodramatic bullshit.

3. No, seriously - let's have a realistic discussion.
If it meant my candidate losing the popular vote - I'd STILL be in favor of that over delegates, super delegates and electoral colleges. I think the system itself is outdated, and doesn't apply for a country with information so readily available. If someone doesn't do their research, it's really their own fault.

And honestly, after watching the Caucus today (the session where my candidate did win) - I STILL thought that was just a disaster and full of drama. There's no reason why the undecideds/edwards/gravel supported needed to be shouted out to come join this team or that team. There's no reason why the two (HRC/BO) sides needed to banter back and forth to each other. Really - primaries are much better for democracy than what I saw today. I think caucus' should just retire to history. And each time a new voting season comes... We put on a little show for the kids to let them know how things used to be done, and how now we have the right to vote, freely, behind a curtain or screen or in a booth, without others watching over us.

5. If you lived in Nevada, you could petition the state party...
to do away with the caucus system. But since you don't, you really have no right to tell people how to run their state's party, do you?

2. They're as grassroots and as participatory as you can get
Nowhere else can you go from being a precinct caucus attender to being a delegate to a national political convention. Or chair of your county's Democratic Party. Or Associate Chair of the State Democratic Party I have seen that done more times than I can count.

You can't do that with a primary.

4. What have you done to change the system?
Whining is easy. What are you going to do to change it? And, just so you know, I will be fighting back with equal fervor to preserve a system that has worked terrifically for our state party. The Iowa Democratic Party is one of the top flight state parties in the nation due to our caucus system and the involvement it fosters.
