1. He's right, but he should have added that they are
dead assed wrong far more than most people.

12. He did say that, but IndianaJones chose not to include that part of the quote.

2. That's a pretty insightful comment...
I have to agree. Bush is pretty much what happens when you let those things get out of control (and other aspects to go unnoticed).

3. I've noticed that Obama's speeches and comments tend to be longer than one sentence.
You haven't given us much context or if he might have somehow qualified or followed up on the sentence.

Do you have a link that would allow us to read the entire thing?

Cute trick. "Just read the fucking book!"
I've taken the time to provide the context. In a response below.

13. I quoted the entire paragraph and the paragraph immediately following. Your turn.
YOU provide us the quote with full context that says that "Bush has our best interest at heart."

7. I see that this is a quote from his book. Here's the entire passage:
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 10:43 AM by Buzz Clik
It is to say that after all the trappings of office -- the titles, the staff, the security details -- are stripped away, I find the President and those who surround him to be pretty much like everybody else, possessed of the same mix of virtues and vices, insecurities and long-buried injuries, as the rest of us. No matter how wrongheaded I might consider their policies to be -- and no matter how much I might insist that they be held accountable for the results of such policies -- I still find it possible, in talking to these men and women, to understand their motives, and to recognize in them values I share.

This is not an easy posture to maintain in Washington. The stakes involved in Washington policy debates are often so high -- whether we send our young men and women to war; whether we allow stem cell research to go forward -- that even small differences in perspective are magnified. The demands of part loyalty, the imperative of campaigns, and the amplification of conflict by the media all contribute to an atmosphere of suspicion. Moreover, most people who serve in Washington have been trained as either as lawyers or political operatives -- professions that tend to place a premium on winning arguments rather than solving problems. I can see how, after a certain amount of time in the capital, it becomes tempting to assume that those who disagree with you have fundamentally different values -- indeed, that they are motivated by bad faith, and perhaps are bad people."

"No matter how wrongheaded I might consider their policies to be -- and no matter how much I might insist that they be held accountable for the results of such policies -- I still find it possible, in talking to these men and women, to understand their motives, and to recognize in them values I share."

Oh. So Obama was not suggesting that the President and his staff were just ordinary people who should be left alone.

I'm curious why you chose to quote on this single, misleading sentence.

14. Why did you take this out of context? I am so tired of this crap.
You purposefully posted only part of what Obama said and the only conclusion I can draw is that your motive was not to have a legitimate discussion but to invoke emotional, irrational responses.
