I was in Washington D.C. in April of 1993 for the March on Washington I was performing with a theater group a play called "A tribute to a memory of you". I was also there for the March and being my first time to D.C. wanted to see the sites.
Two days before the March I was sight seeing and I was on Pennsylvania ave (had already been closed to motor vehicles), I was standing in the road close to the gate when I realized no one was around and before i could get my thoughts together I had a secret Service agent on each side of me asking what I was doing there. Well being the smart ass that I am I said it's a free Country, I can be wherever I want to be! And one of the Agents said to me Not when the First family is about to come out of the White House. Before anything else was said here same the Presidential motorcade not two feet from me. The Presidential Limousine stopped and the back window was rolled down and Hillary looked at me and said hello (needless to say I was speechless). She asked me what I was doing in Washington and I informed her I was mainly here for the March on Washington but I was also Here performing in the above mentioned play. She asked me about the play and I explained it to her and she said it sounds interesting. As she was rolling up the window she looked at me and said you are one in a million. Was the happiest day of my life.
I left two tickets to that evenings performance at the White House Gate for the Clinton's but they never showed ( I didn't think they would, but it was aw some to do).
I have loved the Hillary ever since.
Fast forward to 2006. I went to a private dinner party for Hillary in Florida two years ago that was hosted by a prominent local Lawyer who is chairman of the Local housing board of commissioner's (at the time my mother was a housing commissioner also, is how I got to go to the party as her escort). I spoke with Hillary once again and I mentioned to her that incident in front of the White House in 1993, she looked at me and said that was a long time ago then winked at me and said "see you are one in a million".
So this makes sense to some, the March on Washington was estimated to be one million strong.
P.S. Another little story I want to share about that trip and people that have been to the Capitol can appreciate this. One day we decided to get people to hold a red ribbon for AIDS awareness around the capitol building, one of the Capitol Police said to us as we were organizing this you won't be able to do it, you won't have enough people. When all was said and done Our ribbon with the people holding circled the Capitol 2 and half times. That week we owned that town.
