Doubt the influence of a John Kerry endorsement?
The following is a list of candidates in the '06 Election who were endorsed by, supported by and/or campaigned for by Senator John Kerry. http://www.johnkerry.com/2006/11/8/from-sea-to-shining-sea (Winning candidates have a red x beside them - this is from an older version of the Senator's website.)

Now THAT'S an impressive list and the multitude of red x's would indicate to me that no one is shying away from voting for candidates because John Kerry has given them his stamp of approval.

Congratulations Senator Obama for receiving the thumbs up from Senator Kerry. He seems to know how to pick a winner!

1. Sen Kerry did an awesome job in '06 for Dem candidates
Kerry established a separate political action committee, Keeping America's Promise, that raised money and channeled contributions to Democratic candidates in state and federal races. Through Keeping America's Promise in 2005, Kerry raised over $5.5 million for other Democrats up and down the ballot. Through his campaign account and his political action committee, the Kerry campaign operation generated more than $10 million for various party committees and 179 candidates for the US House, Senate, state and local offices in 42 states focusing on the midterm elections during the last two years. "Cumulatively, John Kerry has done as much if not more than any other individual senator," Hassan Nemazee, the national finance chairman of the DSCC said.

Congrats to Obama!

5. His email list alone
is worth a great deal. Kerry has kept an operation going that could be very useful to Obama.

In the end though, the endorsement that leads to other endorsements, and an initiation of flow: money, support, energy, are what Obama needs right now. The Clinton folks have called in a lot of chits, and they were organizing on Nov. 3, 2004, so they have a bit of a head start. What is truly incredible is that with all of that, she came in third in Iowa. And she had to work her tail off in NH in the past weeks.

Organization is important, but so is game.

6. It does matter and you know it. And the fact that he
chose Obama over Edwards, his own running mate, tells you how great Obama is, dear Jim. :)

9. Remember Ohio in 2004? Edwards wanted to fight, Kerry gave up.

So I take his endorsement as damn good advice to vote for someone else.

10. Remember when it took
initiative to be a leader?

I also don't understand the Edwards wanted to fight meme. How exactly did Kerry stop him considering there were candidates from other parties fighting?

15. Remember that guy in Vietnam.. you know, the one Kerry went back to get in a hail of
gunfire.. won some kind of award for it or something. Came back and went before Congress to testify about the horrors of Vietnam. Well, its not much, but that was the beginning of his career.

If you don't know shit except some idiotic TPM you've read, stop smearing him. Examine the whole life. Show some respect. Unless, of course, you can tell a war story of your own.

16. Somewhere along the line Kerry changed. He became an accommodationist.
Yes, I know about his war service, and I honor him for it. But that was so long ago and his approach now is SO different.

To all the naysayers "pfffft" because you all know if Kerry endorsed your candidate today you would be singing a different tune.

19. Yeah, that's so nice John Kerry - snubbing yer old running mate - John Edwards...
And you snubbed Hillary Clinton, too. You know her don't you? She's married to Bill Clinton - you remember him. He was President back in 1996. Remember?

Sure you do. You were running for re-election to the US Senate against the sitting Republican governor, William Weld. You were in trouble so you called on Bill Clinton - Hillary Clinton's husband - the President, to come up to Massachusetts to help you out.

Yeah, you remember that big rally - 50,000 people was it? What a great guy that Bill Clinton, eh? I remember that. I was living in Massachusetts back then. That rally picked it up for you and you won the election.

Yeah, I remember it. Do you, John Kerry?
