How did polls misread New Hampshire?
http://www.charlotte.com/171/story/439584.htmlHow did polls misread New Hampshire?
Expectations were raised for Obama, dashed for Clinton
JACQUES STEINBERG AND JANET ELDER
New York Times
The morning after Sen. Hillary Clinton claimed victory in the New Hampshire Democratic primary, many pollsters and news organizations plunged themselves into a postmortem centered on a single question: How could they have not seen it coming?

Pre-election polls by some of the nation's most reputable polling organizations, including Gallup and CNN, had raised expectations in the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, Clinton's principal opponent, just as they seemed to dash hopes within her own campaign.

The polls, which consistently showed Obama running ahead of Clinton, may have been unable to keep pace with events. In the end, it seems, the preferences of a considerable number of New Hampshire voters were very much in flux in the final days of the campaign.

1. so why only a mistake in the machine counted areas?
why they seem to only poll correctly in hand counted areas.

polling to hand counts = correct
exit polling to hand counts = correct

polling to machine counts = error
exit polling to machine counts = error

2. EXIT polls showed Obama winning
EXIT polls are a lot different than polls LEADING UP to the election. Even Chris Matthews of CNBC admitted that the station's own EXIT polls showed Obama winning handily.

3. They didn't. They all predicted BO would get mid-30s. He got 36%.
The data showing the undecideds was right there too, but the pundits ignored it.
No fraud.

5. Obama got the number of votes he was pojected (predicted)
to receive.

HRC simply received more votes.

The reporters eith overlooked The UNDECIDEDS at 40%.
If they did not overlook then they assummed all the 40% would
break for Obama. In fact the majority broke for HRC.

The Media hyped things Obama is going to win by double digits.
This was reporters GUESSING. Nothing scientific about it.
You cannot know what is in the 40% undecided"s heads.

THe IMPORTANT THING:: Obama met his projections. HRC just got more votes.
