Expectations of the new president

It seems the word of the day is "change". Let's look at that a little closer.

Imagine if Obama or Edwards got elected president, what would happen, say with health care.

What I know with certainty is that the health care debate would take a conventional route, with a lot of hearings and floor speeches and compromises. The republicans WILL be involved in the debate, even if they're in the minority. The insurance companies WILL be involved in the debate.

And this will cause a lot of outrage at DU. But it shouldn't, imo, because I don't see anything in either of their records that shows them to be as radical as that. If people believe it, I think they're engaging in wishful thinking.

By the way, I also know with certainty that if Edwards becomes president, he will not take away Congress's health care under any circumstance. He won't even try; I don't think there's any mechanism with which he could try that. I don't think there will be much outrage at DU over this, because I think every DUer knows that was a ridiculous promise.
