Poll question: For Edwards supporters only
I don't want to show any disrespect, so understand that this hypothetical. If someone would like to post a poll "for Obama supporters only" please do and I will vote in it.

Suppose Edwards drops out and you have two choices...

I hate to say it.

7. It is for me. Sorry but as a life long Dem, who has never missed an election
for over thirty years this may be the first time I either do not vote or do a write in.I do not see a viable option if Edwards is not the candidate.Maybe I will see things differently later but it is doubtful at the moment.maybe Bloomberg will run.And I suppose Edwards can yet get the nom if there is a God!

8. What this means is that if Edwards doesn't stay in, a Bloomberg entry would split the Dems
Which is just what M$M wanted. They wanted THEIR candidate (HRC) and now that that looks more and more unlikely they'll get desperate to keep a real progressive reformer out of the Oval Office, no matter what.

11. I agree. This could wind-up being very unpleasant and counter-productive.

But the Party has to present a candidate that will attract the broadest popular support. If the Party feels that this candidate is Obama or Clinton, then that is what the Party will have to live with. If either of those two candidates draw the most popular support they will win, if not, they won't. As Debs said, "I'd rather vote for what I want and not get it, than vote for what I don't want and get it." I am sure the Party feels that my puny vote is far too "fringe" for it to worry about, anyway...

14. Bloomberg is a stealth Republican in an Indepent's clothing and you all know it
The GOP will make sure there's an "anti-Progressive" in the mix since the GOP mush candidate pool sucks so bad.

5. I won't vote simply because
you can't post a poll saying "for x supporters only" and expect that it will be honored.

There are a lot more Obama supporters than Clinton supporters on DU so of course Obama will win. But keep in mind that it's entirely possible that those two candidates' supporters are voting in this poll in large numbers, while few Edwards supporters are choosing to participate at this time.

16. I have to look at that very seriously
My kid is a polysci major. For his term paper, he had chosen to dissect Clinton. But during his research he apparently found a lot of crap on Obama, and he switched focus. He got a 99% grade on the paper. So ... I need to read that paper! His chief gripe with Obama is a certain liberty with facts ... I plan to find out the details and post them later.

Still, my gut level instructs me to lean towards Obama rather than Clinton. Having said that, I am not ready to make that shift as yet.

19. I've decided that I won't vote for Obama in the general. I have no hope for this country anymore.
I won't vote for someone who cynically used me to win hate-votes. It makes me sick.

I'll write-in Edwards.

20. If Edwards drops out, I'll have considerably more than two choices
E.g., I voted for Nader in 2004 rather than vote for (let alone actively *support*) Kerry.

I might nominally support Kucinich during the remaining primaries as the only remaining progressive running (even though it rankles that this may be exactly what he wanted to accomplish by attempting to donate what little Iowa support he had to Obama rather than to Edwards - and thus I wouldn't send him a cent).

If Obama stays exactly where he is now and becomes the nominee, I might vote for him in November (his stances, while fairly corporate/conservative, aren't as disgusting as Kerry's became) but wouldn't actively support him.

If he becomes noticeably more progressive (no promise of that that I can see, but one can always hope), I would support him actively.

If he moves noticeably to the right (as Kerry did), or Hillary becomes the nominee, it's third-party time again (unless hell freezes over and the Republican nominee actually looks better to me).
