To all who say "My vote doesn't count"
Ok I hear you, I have said the same thing many times. But on reading another post in which a person said that they wouldn't vote for anyone but their 1st choice candidate in the GE because in their state their "vote doesn't count", I had to reconsider.

I wonder how many people out there take the same philosophy. Think for a moment how many more Democrats would turn out if the percentages for turnout were higher in your state. Think how much more money would be invested in rallying the Dem voters in your state if it were more of a battleground.

Think of the alternative. The primary is your chance to make your voice heard in terms of where on the policy spectrum you fall. The GE is your chance to help save us from another W. Not voting for one candidate in the GE is voting for the OTHER candidate!

1. I'd never say my vote doesn't count...

3. That would be me in Michigan.
I did vote already but it won't count because "they" won't count it.

2. I used to say that and never did vote
And then 2004, I not only voted, but registered many people to vote, asking them to help make a difference. Then something happened ....

Started looking into the voting system in this country. Went to the local registar of voters to see how transparent the system really is. Turns out it's laughable - everything happens behind closed doors, no matter how many people hated George Bush, he would surprisingly get more votes than voters, and that list goes on and on. The elections are decided beforehand and we are constantly told that our vote counts. In reality, whoever has financed and bought a politician is who they answer to. Not the people. Just follow the money and it'll make perfect sense.

I will vote again and encourage others to vote, but seriously, once again I don't believe my vote counts. I know many will disagree, but I firmly believe that with all the facts that have surfaced since 2004, actually 2000.

4. When our state's primay is at the end of May
our votes literally do not count. The nomination is already in the bag by then. We do not get a choice.

5. I don't know if you're talking about me

But if you are, you got it all wrong.

To begin with, there is only one candidate whom I wouldn't vote for (not anyone but my 1st choice). And I also said my vote doesn't count (meaning my vote in the GE, not our caucus which I will attend) only because I live in in KANSAS. Do you have any idea HOW Republican Kansas is? I honestly doubt any Democratic nominee could win here, but for sure the one candidate for whom I won't vote cannot. If I thought he had the remotest chance, I'd have to think long and hard about whether to vote, and probably would end up holding my nose... not to mention covering my mouth. But he doesn't, and I don't, and that's what the poll in the other thread asked.
