Huckabee's on his way down
and Guiliani's on his way up again. I suspect the Huckster won't even win Iowa.

1. The recent stuff in Pakistan will hurt him more than any other candidate
on both sides, because he's already shown that he's ignorant of foreign affairs--nobody is going to trust him to deal with such dangerous events, ultimately.

2. LA Times/Bloomberg poll out from Iowa yesterday shows Huck still with a
double-digit lead in Iowa. I think he will take Iowa like Pat Robertson did in '88 thanks to evangelicals. The question is can he use his Iowa victory as a springboard to other wins--chiefly in South Carolina?

5. I don't think he'll even take Iowa
and I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Grandpa Fred take it

22. What evidence do you have of this?
A new poll just released shows Huckleberry with a double digit lead (37 to Romney's 23). Why Fred Thompson?

3. Wall Street doesn't like him, making his long term viability highly doubtful.

4. Please, Goddess
let the Huckster win IA and knock that pompous ass Mitwit down a few pegs.

Huck isn't anywhere near ready for prime time but if he can take Mitwit out, he is useful, none the less.

10. Be Careful What You Ask For
If the Mighty Sludge Machine gets behind him, he could become President.

21. They won't
The machine will not back Huck. They will walk away and use their money and effort to trash the Democratic President for 4 years then run someone they really want.

Huckabee will be the GOP McGovern.

8. Maybe, maybe not. But how does he lose in the south?
He's the perfect GOP candidate in the south. If he's still seen as viable by the time the SC primary comes around, I think he's going to win the nomination.

9. I don't think so. We're talking about a very top down party
and the top does not want Huckabee. The repukes will play SC as they played it in 2000 when they torpedoed JMac. And Romney has the same players on his team as bush did then.

12. Romney is not going to win this nomination
He has as much chance of winning the GOP nomination as an openly gay candidate.

I do know one thing: He has a better chance than Huckabee.

The GOP race is still wide open and there really isn't a top three.

15. Noooooooo! It's too early for him to peak!
I'm greatly enjoying the divisions he's causing in the GOP. And I particularly like the fight between the Huckster and Limbaugh. I'd love for him to get the nomination.

24. I don't think he has a chance
Wayne Dumond and the other guy he let out will sink him. He's boneheaded on crime, and too many people will see that he's a religious idiot with poor judgement.

And he's funny as hell to watch. :) He's the best thing since Katherine Harris.

19. I'm a bit surprised...
I'm a bit surprised. It's seemed to me that Huck's been gobbling up the Radical Christian Extremist voting block lately and making some inroads into the moderates camp, too.

I've been figuring him as the eventual GOP nominee ever watched him interviewed on the Leher News Hours about a month ago-- he seems to have that insidious republican ability to say something completely innocuous, yet leaving it open for future revision if necessary.
