Chris Matthews loves clean politics
Edited on Sat Dec-22-07 05:23 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Last week Matthews was talking about how Edwards has a lot of union support from big, burly guys who take no guff... what Matthews likes to think of as guys like him.

He suggested that Edwards might outperform in the caucus system because Edwards' union supporters would intimidate (his word) the type of students or effete intellectuals who support Obama... that people would be reluctant to vote how they wanted when the big burly Edwards guys looked those pencil-necks in the eye.

And Matthews thought this was a GOOD thing.

For the record: This was a Matthews fantasy. There is no reason whatsoever to think that Edwards supporters or anyone else's supporters will physically intimidate people at the caucuses. The point is only that Matthews like imagining scenarios like that, and views them with favor. Except when used by a candidate he hates...

2. My union is about as wimpy as you can get
I just don't see the teachers union out there intimidating anybody.

But Matthews is a twit who lives in some kind of alcohol or drug induced fantasy land. he has turned into a complete parody of himself.

4. Tweety loves those burly men, especially if they smell like Old
Spice or Aqua Velva. He probably still gets off on Bush's picture with the codpiece. :eyes:

6. He needs psychological help.
Media Matters has a great collection of his quotes about "big beefy" candidates and such:

7. What is Matthews's obsession with ersatz, cliched machismo?
I'm all for Edwards and unions, but what is with this stereotypical students vs. union guys thing? His love of the flight suit? His Aqua Velva reveries? Fucking disturbing.

9. Matthews would jump under his desk if any of those "effete intellectuals" or
"pencil-necks" raised their voice to him. He can play the little bully on his show where he can cut people off because he controls the microphones and the cameras.
