Larry Flynt on Bill Clinton, Giuliani, and the next GOP "outing"
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 02:28 PM by NYCGirl
http://www.examiner.com/blogs/Yeas_and_Nays/2007/12/20/Bill-Clinton-Thinks-Larry-Flynt-Is-A-Hero

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt opens up to Vanity Fair’s Bruce Handy on several top politicos in the forthcoming issue of Vanity Fair.

On Giuliani: "As mayor of New York, would you live in an apartment with three gay guys?” Flynt asks.“I don’t hate gays. But I don’t want to live in an apartment full of them. They’ll bitch and cry and all. That doesn’t bother Giuliani. It doesn’t bother Giuliani to put a dress on to do Saturday Night Live. I don’t trust him. I don’t think he’s electable.” (Giuliani moved in with a gay male couple after his separation from Donna Hanover.)

On meeting Bill Clinton: “The first thing he did was come over and grab my hand and say, ‘You’re my hero.’ ” Flynt says Clinton chastised the Hustler publisher for not publishing details of Republican Bob Livingston’s extramarital sex life. (A Clinton spokesman says the former president recalls the conversation differently).

On his next Republican "outing": “The other shoe’s going to drop any day,” Flynt says. “It’ll surprise a lot of people that he’s gay. And I’ll bet you he resigns the same day and rides off into the sunset.”

I know many, many straight guys that fit that stereotype far more than myself and other gays.

9. His homophobic comments about gays are despicable
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 02:23 PM by VarnettaTuckpocket
And actually part of it was cut off, at the end of his questioning about Giuliani, he said "Why would he leave his wife to go live with gays?" Uh, because they were his friends, why wouldn't he? Not that I like Giuliani of course, but that doesn't excuse all the homophobic crap Flynt said about Rudy's gay friends.

23. Actually, I liked Giuliani for rooming with two gay men. To me, it sounded like he
wanted to be with friends he was comfortable with. I can relate to that. Flynt needs to have more sensitivity training, he sounds really badly out of kilter on gay issues...

17. I'm glad Flynt has decided to out some hypocrites, but his comments on gays
in general are just plain wrong.

Not all gays bitch and cry. Not all of them do drag. In fact, most you would never even know are gay from their appearance and the way they act.

On to the next outing, and perhaps Larry will someday get a clue that most gay people can't be identified by stereotypes.

20. wow.
his comments are more than wrong. They're naked and ugly bigotry. Fuck him. And his attitude toward women is just as repulsive. He's disgusting. I want nothing to do with that hateful creep even if he does out repukes.

21. Uhhhh...did we really think that the publisher of "Hustler" is an upstanding guy?
I'm surprised at all of the negative reactions. The guy makes his living by exploiting women, are we surprised that he stereotypes homosexuals? Of course he's scum!

I say use him for what is useful and don't try to dig any deeper. You'll just be disappointed.

22. It doesn't really surprise me.
But he prefaces his stupid remarks with "well, I don't hate gays". And then he makes a rather stupid, homophobic comment. I mean, it's bad enough with comments like that. But don't pull that bullshit "well, I don't hate gays" qualifier beforehand.

I think he's sort of slimy. Period. But I guess he's supposed to have his uses, I guess.

24. I love homophobes. They always have to point out that
some of their best friends are gay. Who the hell do they think they are fooling?

I have no illusions about Larry Flynt - he's as slimy and sleazy as they come. But if he helps bring down a Republican then I say "bring it on baby!" I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
