Edwards has received millions more than any candidate from the "Act Blue" site.
That says a lot to me about his chances in Democratic grassroots. Screw the MSM.

$4,374,974 to date. The next highest total is $309,797.

ActBlue is a Federal PAC that enables anyone — individuals, local groups, and national organizations — to fundraise for the Democratic candidates of their choice.

Launched in June 2004, ActBlue created and deployed the next generation of online fundraising technology, and has raised over $33 million for Democratic candidates and committees.

Previously, only the most well-funded and technologically-savvy groups have employed these powerful fundraising methods. But with ActBlue, groups and individuals need only choose their candidates and make their solicitations.

By providing all the technical, financial, and compliance systems, ActBlue enables every progressive organization and individual to make the most of their networks - rapidly raising otherwise untapped millions for Democrats in the closest races.

1. Sucks that the FEC won't match ActBlue funds.
Time to give directly to the Edwards campaign, if that's who you want to support. Don't do it through ActBlue if you want your contributions to be matched.

4. Good point Onehandle-
What little I've been able to give in money, has gone right to the campaign. Thank God for that.

3. The FEC has disallowed those donations for matching purposes.
Act Blue doesn't just pass along peoples 'checks, they deposit them and write their own big check (presumably with a spreadsheet attached). FEC has determined this is not matchable under current rules.

Edwards can keep the money, and the spending caps are still in place, but he will just have to raise more than he would have otherwise to max out the cap (which includes the government matching funds).
