Poll question: Who is your Second Choice for President
Edited on Fri Dec-07-07 10:11 PM by hnmnf
Please also say who your first choice is so we can see whose supports goes where. I knows this plays an important part in the Iowa Caucus, but as the primary season moves along, it could also play a part if certain candidates drop out of the race. Please dont vote for your favorite, cuz that would defeat the purpose of the poll.

Quick Note, I made a second poll on a separate site that lists who your first choice is, then your second choice, so we have a lot better poll. The problem, Im asking DUers to be completely honest and only vote once. So please do that. And this is the same poll as listed in the thread, Even better 2nd choice...

1. My second choice is Edwards
I dont really like John Edwards, but I like what he stands for, if you catch my drift.

Which, unfortunately, is why we can't take these '2nd choice' polls very seriously here on DU, or anywhere for that matter.

Another thought, regarding the Iowa caucus specifically, it isn't always the caucus goer's 2nd choice that gets their realignment support. Often times strategy, not preference, determines this realignment.

7. But the point remains..
Even if you have a 2nd preference, this doesn't necessarily translate to 2nd-choice support in a caucus setting. That's all I'm sayin.

9. No I agree
the other problem with a poll like this is when people choose somebody like Dodd as their second choice. I Dont want to rule Dodd out in this poll, but I think he has no shot.

5. Obama after Hillary
Edited on Fri Dec-07-07 09:32 PM by Gman
at least it was 6 months ago. I support who I think can win, period. No ideological bullshit. I just want a Democrat in that can win. Once that person is in, they can be talked to because they will be up for reelection in 2012.

But as Obama has continued to make misstep after misstep, rookie mistakes, I don't know if he would be the right person or not because I really don't think he can win in November. I want to think he can but he's also too green.

It's interesting here that after after 24 votes, Kucinich has 1 vote. I wonder what the first choice is for everyone that's voted so far. I wonder how many of the 24 are Kucinich supporters. If say, half are (which is not unreasonable for DU), then the results so far are very interesting. If there are only 5 or less Kucinich supporters that have voted, does that mean the Kucinich people don't have a second choice and are skipping the poll in general after viewing the OP?

This is a good poll for once.

12. Second choice Edwards
He is becoming more and more of a distant second to my first choice of Biden. I believe these are the only two candidate that can carry swing states. The object is to win the General election. Much of my decision process has centered around the ability of these candidates to carry independents in the swing states.
