Odd bedfellows? Ron Paul, Tucker Carlson & a brothel owner

Headlines have popped up all over the Web in the last day or so about the Nevada brothel owner who has endorsed Republican Rep. Ron Paul's presidential effort.

If you want to get the whole story, it might be worth looking back at this Sunday piece from our Gannett colleagues at the Reno Gazette-Journal. As they explain, it started when MSNBC host Tucker Carlson brought along his friend -- brothel owner Dennis Hof -- during a reporting trip. Carlson was trailing Paul through Nevada.

The Gazette-Journal writes that:

Paul spokesman Jeff Greenspan said Paul's campaign were (sic) surprised to see Carlson emerge from a limousine with Hof and two of his celebrity prostitutes to attend the morning's news conference at Lawlor Events Center.

Following the news conference, Hof said he was so impressed that he wanted to start raising money for Paul.

"I'll do it today," he said. "I'll get all the Bunnies together, and we can raise him some money. I'll put up a collection box outside the door. They can drop in $1 dollar, $5 dollar contributions."
