that will be opening in both the House and Senate? Are they lining up Dem candidates to run? Are they putting together a game plan and funding? What is going on?

1. Nah. They're lining up Repukes to switch parties and run as Dems.
As long as they get a majority, they can cash in on K Street, just like the departing repukes are.

2. I know that the DSCC is really busy behind the scenes...

I live in Anchorage, and they just flew our mayor out to D.C. to talk him into running against "Corrupt Bastard Ted Stevens"

Mark Begich (D) ~ Anchorage Mayor

He hasn't made his announcement yet, but everyone in the state knows he's going to..

He's an extremely popular 2-term mayor with super high approval ratings which is why the DSCC is interested in him.

They are also planning to spend a butt-load on one of the many Democrats running against "Corrupt Bastard Don Young"

Both Don Young and Ted Stevens have some very serious legal and ethical problems and neither will be re-elected.

Just knowing how busy the DSCC has been in the Great White North, I would imagine they're also busy in the other states with upcoming elections.

3. I'm sure both the
DCCC, the DSCC and the DNC are all very very busy. They just don't issue press releases on their daily activities.

But I'm sure good candidates are being recruited.
