Where is the kudos for Congress staying in session
over the Thanksgiving holiday to keep Bush from making his recess political appointments.

Today it was Senator Byron Dorgan (D)North Dakota?

8. I have the same sentiments! I AM happy the Senators have
taken this action........................................................................finally!

As far as I am concerned Senators have more than enough "time off" during their breaks to pursue personal interests, re-election, most likely, or concerns that are job related. How many people worked today for minimum wage at thankless jobs while holding a college degree?? plus all the others not fortunate enough to continue their educations? Many would give their eye teeth to work in the capacity of a senator....and not expect us to be forever grateful to them for upholding their oath of office. imho

3. There have been a couple of threads about it.
One when Senator Webb was in the chamber, the other when Dorgan was.

I think this is us at our best. Kudos to the Democrats in the Senate!

9. They have a tougher job than we think, and I'm appreciative of what they've done
over this holiday break. I don't think either of them have asked to be thanked -- I heard them both say they were honored and pleased to do it.

11. None of them got their pensions pulled like me and others. Of course,
they're rich from lobbyist money anyway, so they don't need pensions.

A lot of us have tough jobs and don't have a massive staff to do our bidding.

13. I don't have a pension. I don't have a job at all at the moment. I'm broke. But

just because I'm in dire straits at the moment, I appreciate these efforts of those who aren't.

16. I can't always keep up with t he latest news
as I don't have a radio or cable but I did see this spot on NBC nightly news about Senator Dorgan and I appreciate very much what he and the others are doing.

They are in a position to do something positive for the country and I, as the widow of a civil service employee, know exactly what they are stopping that stupid man in the WH from doing. In the long run - they may be saving our lives!!!

20. You're not paying attention if you don't get it. They get, for the most part,
what they deserve. Trust me. And it's not only here. DU isn't the only place that notices.
