Poll question: Who do you most hope the GOP will nominate?
It should go without saying, but I'm asking who would be the easiest to beat...

6. Out of the three, I would say the Ghoul is easiest to beat
I know he polls the highest, but people don't really know much about his record other than he was mayor during 9/11. I wonder how many RWers know he was pro gay rights and is pro abortion?

12. Huckle-nutts
Even though Romney changed all his beliefs, and Giuliani is a fraud regarding 9/11; I'm going to go with Huckleberry. He just has little charisma, enthusiasm, and charm. He's not the people person that a top-tier politician needs to be.

18. More Huckle-nutts
I heard him on Hartmann once, he didn't sound as crazy as many of the righties. He's not a libertarian economically, he recognized that many functions in society need to be done by government. I guess the charming thing is in the eye of the beholder; I don't see it.

21. No, he's pretty crazy--he thinks that all the aborted fetuses in this
country should have grown up to be our low-wage lettuce pickers, so that we didn't have to import illegals. He stated out loud in a debate that if Congress told him "no" on attacking Iran and he still wanted to, he would just ignore them and do it anyway--that's called being a "dictator". He is cuckoo for cocoa puffs, behind a friendly facade.

Well those are hair-raising positions. All the more reason I hope he wins over Giuliani and Romulan.

2. Romney
Once people find out what is really behind Mormonism, he will be toast.

25. seems like
that book is about a very small branch of Mormonism, as publishers weekly says "Using as a focal point the chilling story of offshoot Mormon fundamentalist"

I see very little difference in how one being a Mormon will make me more or less likely to vote for them. Frankly ones religion, or lack thereof, plays very little role in deciding whom I will vote for in an election.

I see very little difference in how one being a Mormon will make me more or less likely to vote for them. Frankly ones religion, or lack thereof, plays very little role in deciding whom I will vote for in an election.

In fact Publishers Weekly goes on to say ". While Krakauer demonstrates that most nonfundamentalist Mormons are community oriented, industrious and law-abiding, he poses some striking questions about the closed-minded, closed-door policies of the religion-and many religions in general.

So I don't see how this book will give me any insight into Romney or why people may or not vote for him.

29. Like I said, I suggest you read the book for yourself
and Romney's religion is very much a part of his life, so it is important to take it into account. I mean, look at what Bush has done in the name of 'christianity.'

30. once again
the book talks about fundamentalist extreme mormons. Romney is not part of that small sect.

be harder to beat in a general election than Romney or Rudy? Seriously?

13. In a long list of unelectables, Tancredo clearly gets the top spot . . .
But they're not going to nominate him.

It'll be Giuliani, Romney, McCain, or (a distant maybe) Thompson.

To which I say: "bring it on!"

These guys are so unappealing to everyone except their current fans that any one of them could be beaten handily by any of the leading dems.

Giuliani is a phony and a crook; Romney is the complete hypocrite; McCain is an angry wacko, and way too old to boot; and Thompson is a third-rate everything.

Heck, I'd run Homer Simpson against this crowd and figure on at least a 50-50 chance.*

* Black box voting notwithstanding.

19. Romney...I would say Tancredo if I thought he had a prayer
since he's really loony, but of the ones who I think have a good cahnce at the nomination, Mitt is my choice because he is way out of touch with reality...he doesn't have a clue as to what people are looking for.

22. Mitt's actually the sanest, by far. He actually helped create a health care plan
that works in Massachusetts, and he's not very driven by religion--I'm not sure where you get your info from. If he were the nominee, and somehow became more charming, we'd have a battle.

31. Paul, because he's the sanest *out of the Rep. bunch*. And the people are best served
if they can choose between the most sane people, instead of mumbling idiots (even if their from the other party nd you hope that will drive supporters in our arms).
