Poll question: Do you really think that the 2008 Dem frontrunners really oppose gay marriage?
(note- I think that the new found support FOR Ron Paul stems from the fact that he is authentic. Everything he advocates for he is truly passionate about. He really opposes the drug war, and the Iraq war. He really wants to do away with public education, SSI, and all the good liberal programs that I support. I think that people are responding to his authenticity.)

1. I have yet to see anything other than wishful thinking on this matter
The candidates (except for Kucinich) have gone out of their way asserting that I DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to marry my boyfriend. None of them (except for Kucinich) have supported equal rights with their votes in office.

Please explain why I should not take them at their own words and deeds?

9. You and I have a difference of opinion my friend
You think that the Dem frontrunners do not support gay marriage.
I think that the Dem frontrunners do support gay marriage, but will not do so publicly because it is not a "winnable" political issue.

I bet if you were alone in a room with just your boyfriend and the Clintons, I bet they would privately ensure you that they support your equal rights.

12. So what about their campaign rhetoric re. the occupation of Iraq, health care and global warming?
Edited on Wed Nov-07-07 11:10 AM by TechBear_Seattle
If, as you say, they are lying about their beliefs with regards to equal marriage in order to appear more presentable to a larger number of voters, why should I not believe that they are lying about their beliefs on other issues? And if I can assume that their campaign speeches are nothing but lies, why should I vote for them anyway if I can not depend on them to express what they believe?

Thanks for your input, but no.

13. Well, I really don't think Kerry or HRC thought that the Iraq war would
be over by 2009. I doubt that they are that stupid.

So they supported the Iraq war cause it was popular to do so.
So they oppose the Iraq occupation cause it is popular to do so.

They (really) support corporations instead of patients (re: health care). They want the corporate cash and power - patients have none of these things to offer.

They really support outsourcing. They really support free trade. They really don't support American workers.

So they (really) support the environment. I really think that they do.

I think that they (really) support a womens right to chose.

That is the real deal. They are a pretty fake bunch, sad to say.

4. No, anything to get them elected
which to me, is worse than saying you really do oppose it. I wish people could just be honest.

5. It's like universal single-payer health care. They genuinely believe in it but they also genuinely
believe that they cannot get it passed in an American where 25% of the population is so stupid they still think Bush is doing a swell job and half the country wants to bomb Iran.

11. I agree. 225 years ago most folks supported slavery
Just because the sheeple support immoral policies does not mean we should be resigned to support evil policies that are currently popular.
