Hillary: "I wasn't at my best the other night"
Hillary: "I wasn't at my best the other night"
November 6, 5:21 PM

On today's "The Situation Room," Sen. Hillary Clinton opened up about her widely-discussed performance during last week's MSNBC debate. (You can watch the video here on Breitbart.tv)

"I wasn't at my best the other night," Clinton told CNN's Candy Crowley. "We have had a bunch of debates, and you know, I wouldn't rank that up in my very top list." Following the debate, Clinton's opponents for the 2008 Democratic nomination (as well as Hillary detractors generally) criticized the New York senator for being dishonest and evasive, and for flip-flopping on several issues.

But Clinton disagreed with some of the criticism:

I have answered probably -- oh, I don't know, more than 5,000 questions in the last 10 months. And I have been very clear about where I stand and what I want to do for the country. I have laid out very specific plans on how we are going to have a different energy agenda, how we are going to have a health care plan that covers everybody, how we are going to improve our education system and all of the other issues that people talk to me about, as well as what we need to do to restore America's leadership around the world. And I have even put out how I'm going to pay for each and every one of the policies that would cost money.

<SNIP>

Finally, Clinton addressed the heat she's received from the other Democratic candidates following the debate:

If they want to use their energy attacking me, that’s their choice. I am going to use my energy focusing on a new energy policy and so much else. I’m not running anybody else’s campaign and I love what Harry Truman said if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. And I’m really comfortable in the kitchen. So I’m staying in.

1. Lying is hard work
You've got to be in top form to really pull it off on national tv.

7. I don't think I've ever seen Hillary say a "warm" thing about anyone or anything
Unless it was a $100,000 campaign contribution.

13. there you go spewing the right-wing talking points about her "cold" personality
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 09:21 PM by Evergreen Emerald
It is a neocon propaganda attempt at redefining her--from the old days. It apparently worked, even on those who consider themselves "progressive."

As much as you'd like to pretend otherwise.

24. no--but the mantra that she is "cold" or that she has never said a warm thing
is simply a sexist lie. If you have ever heard her speak you would see that the line of bull feed to us by the media and by years and years of propaganda fed directly from the neo-con idea room is simply not true.

39. Hillary does say positive things
Like referring to Joe Biden as correct no less than three times during that debate, then catching herself and then refraining, trying to say "everyone on this stage" was correct twice more. Then there is this...
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2007/11/06/i_would_consider_joe_biden_for.html
Its not sexist to point out, even Hillary feels Joe Biden would be a Better President than She.

41. I've heard her speak in public and she is warm

In person she is great!

That was in 2004 that I saw her~ I loved her answer to the debate peformance question by the way.

It was honest and straight forward.

HC is not my 1st choice however for the bid but I certainly respect her as a leader.

31. Yes. Some are left-wing talking points.
Dislike Hillary? You're either a primitive thug or an adolescent anarchist.

The difference is newness: if they've heard the observation before you're a running-dog for the establishment and it's conservative tripe; if they haven't, you're a confused hippie wandering about in fantasyland.

Quite simple, really. There's nothing like a tidy little world for some people.

Somewhere in this blizzard of derision is the truth: she's an ultra-moderate, in the center of the center's center, yet somehow on each side at once.

Perhaps she's really the Scarlet Pimpernel...

3. It is funny - maybe in the end I could hold my nose long enough
to vote for her - maybe.

But she really did screw the pooch - And she is likely to screw up so much more trying to fix the original mistake too.

I didn't see the Gore commercials - were they good??

Of course, she wouldn't have "gone there" if they thought the "victimhood" deflection tack was working.

29. It's never a good idea to dance around issues and as a last ditch effort
... admit to being human. It was a mistake for her not to lead with that.

That's the authenticity theme Obama has been punctuating this week. The SNL skit was brilliant satire of all other contenders, a teensy bit of truth that marginalized them, and Obama comes out straightforward, himself ... authentic. Yahtzee.

capable of speaking to and for all generations.

Lawyer
Harvard Scholar
Senator
Community Activist

Excels in all that he does.

The next generation is critical however, they need to see someone that they can trust and look up to ~ he is more than capable of doing that and more so.

I am 65 and he sure speaks for me.

My mother is 90 and she loves the way he inspires all generations and reaches out to those that are have nots.

I took my 25 year old cousin to see Obama ~ he is now working in the campaign office and has gathered several of his friends to be on the Obama committee.

PEACE

and end of discussion

if not to try and garner sympathy and how they (the Clinton campaign) must have decided on that as a strategy and scrambled to come up with that thing in a matter of hours.

49. It shows how Hillary is focused on beating the repukes
while the others are focused on beating her. Hillary is showing what she'll do as the nominee; The others are showing how desperate they are. Dem voters generally don't like to see dems attack other dems. That's why Gephardt and Dean's #'s dropped so quickly in Iowa in 2004
