new California Poll: Hillary's Ticket Drag
A new California Field Poll released todays warns, in the words of its director, that while Hillary Clinton stills leads widely among Democratic presidential contenders she has nevertheless accumulated a "negatve drag" of voters who absolutely will not support her.

While one third of California voters say they would "definitely" vote for Clinton, a near equal number say they have already made up their minds that they won't. No other major Democratic candidate, according to the poll, evokes such intense polarization. According to the poll, 48 percent of California voters said they have a favorable view of Hillary Clinton, with 39 percent having an unfavorable view.

Mark DiCamillo, director of the Field Poll, said the survey showed "there's really been a solidification of voter opinions on Hillary" and what he called "a negative drag" unique in the presidential race - the solid third who don't like her, won't support her and see her negatively.

"Judging from the length of time we've seen the same proportions, I don't think there's a high probability they will change their minds," he said... She almost has to write off at least a third of the voters who are unlikely to vote for her," DiCamillo said. "No other candidates have this kind of solidification of negative votes."

1. Maybe this is why the repubs want to split
the electoral votes so badly.

2. On the other hand - Clinton is leading Obama by a wide 20 % margin.
Source: Same link

On the other hand, more than 7 out of 10 Californians polled said that Bill Clinton's support of his wife's campaign would help her "a lot" or somewhat.

A similar California Field Poll last week showed Clinton leading second place rival Barack Obama by a wide 20% margin.

3. Could you be more dishonest in your headline? The article says nothing about the ticket.
In discusses her definitely vote for vs definitely vote against numbers as well as her approval ratings.

But leave it to a charter member of Team Smear 4 Obama to just outright lie.

11. This is the headline "New California Poll: Hillary's "Negative Drag'"
Not what you posted.

All of the big 3 are beating the crap out of the GOP in head to head in CA

"Everyone knows there is a large faction of democrat who will not vote for Hillary."

Actually more Democrats have said they won't vote for Obama choosing to stay home or go GOP.

6. Bingo!! That's why Hillary...
...has become such a warmonger.

She's morphed into a Lieberman because she's completely written off
the anti-war and progressive crowd.

She's catering to the centrists, the security moms and those Dems
who would support Lieberman-types (DLCers).

There you have it, folks. She knows that she can't win us over.
She's not even trying with the anti-war crowd. She knows that
her pro-war votes speak loudly. There's no way to rationalize
those votes.

She's thinking that she can win this by being "tough on national
security."

Interesting...

12. A third of the people still believe that Bush is doing a splendid job...
The only way I would worry is if more than 40% of those who would never vote for HRC are democrats...

15. Where were you in 2000 when Gore was running?
As for me, I was trying to convince Nader voters that Gore was not a clone of Bush.

Those of you who can't find a Dem candidate to support now don't realize that the Dems have a number of outstanding candidates.

Get behind someone who is actually running.

16. I was registering voters for Gore in Tennessee and Wyoming. My first political activism ...
... was working for Senator Albert Gore, Sr. in 1970. I am very proud to be able to continue to support whichever Al Gore is available at this moment to serve his nation -- because they have always served with distinction and dedication.

We have not yet had the first state-level primary and folks like you are already saying the "process" is closed. Not hardly. Not by a long shot.

BTW, I can find candidates to support -- you did notice Richardson on my favored ticket, n'est pas? I also see much in Kucinich and Edwards to support. None of them offer the combination of competence and electability that Al Gore offers us. Hence my support for Gore.

I am working to get Gore on our state's primary ballot, an effort that is underway in at least a dozen states now. If you thought Gore was good enough in 2000, why would you not support him if/when he enters the 2008 race? Why lock in your choice now, months before the first primary?

Watching a bit too much corporate media lately?

17. I have not locked my choice in for the primary by any means
I think all of our candidates are excellent.

I supported Gore when he was a candidate. He's not a candidate now.

19. Hide and watch.
BTW, I don't think all our candidates are excellent. Some are too hawkish, some are too wet-behind-the-ears, some promise and don't deliver, some enabled the HAVA disaster, etc.

But they are all better than a ole yeller dawg.

And I'd vote for that dawg before I'd vote for a Rethug.
