New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton tops a list of 2008 presidential contenders favored by Arkansans in poll results released Tuesday.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani trailed "other" in the annual Arkansas Poll, conducted by researchers at the University of Arkansas.

Asked who they would vote for if the presidential election were held today, 35 percent of respondents said Clinton. Excluding the 28 percent who did not answer the question, Clinton's support jumps to 48 percent, according to the poll conducted by the university's Survey Research Center.

"Getting almost half of the people who answered is pretty impressive," said Arkansas Poll director Janine Parry, an associate political science professor.

1. Well I've read several articles that stated Rudy is really hated in NY,
and Huck is not liked at all in Ar. Since the people in a candidates home State should know the most about them, that sure is telling!

2. I think the last person to win the Presidency without their home state was Polk...
I may be wrong about that, but it has been quite some time...unless you include 2000...
