Dirty Local Republican Political Trick Backfires
I work as a traveling regional area manager . (ergo my screen name sellitman .) So,yesterday I was in a quiet hamlet in the Catskill Mountains visiting a local business whose owner is running for re-election as a Town Supervisor. "Joe" (Name changed) has been at this elected post for years and is a well respected man in the community. His family's business has been in the community 95+ years through 5 generations.

A friend of "Joe" who is on the Republican Town Committee attended a meeting last week that troubled him greatly. At the meeting the man running against him and a few of the other Republican thought that if they could get "Joe" to fight with his wife it might make the papers and make him loose the election. "Joe's" friend warned him of this plot.

So hours before I showed up at this business a HUGE bouquet of red roses arrives to their business with a card that reads: "Joe, You really rocked my world the other evening" signed xoxoxoxox

Of course "Joe's" wife get them and opens the card. Luckily she was tipped off and didn't freak out. (Can you imagine if she wasn't tipped off?)

They next call 1-800-Flowers who tell them they have a rule against letting the customers name out without their approval. The only way they can do this is if they file a Police report and the Police look into it.

Of course "Joe" has many friends in town including the Police. They call 1-800-Flowers and finds out the credit card used was his opponents sister who also has been writing letters to the editor in the local paper sliming "Joe".

Well...this whole story will be running front page before the election needless to say and the Repuke is toast.

I immediately thought Carl Rove moved to the Catskills. Another amazing dirty republican trick.

8. R's can't win in a fair election, they have NOTHING and they

know it. I'm surprised this guy's brother didn't send the flowers!

All the R's have is some odd perception thathtye must win to gain any credibility, and as soon as they do, they prove they have no credibility. Taxes, Gays and Abortion, all brought out on a tray of fear is the entire Republican strategic view.

Pitiful, truly pitiful.

One Edit: This was actually meant to be posted to the OP...

3. Lesson: Keep your eyes and ears open
This dirty little trick really wasn't that sophisticated or bright, but by getting the word early, Joe and his campaign were ready for it. Good job, and gratifying to see it reap its just reward.

5. Why did the opponent even think it would work?
Did he get the idea from something that really happened to him?

6. When confronted....
he told the police that he had no idea his sister would actually do that.

Not the sharpest tack on the wall.
