HEADS UP: Colbert on Meet the Press with Timbo Tomorrow
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 02:36 PM by jefferson_dem

...

Then, comedian (and presidential candidate?) Stephen Colbert provides some much needed humor as he joins us in-studio to offer up his take on the issues and personalities of Decision 2008. How important is comedy in national Politics? Colbert will talk about his recently declared "candidacy" and his new book, "I Am America (And So Can You!)"

2. Thanks for letting us know!
I rarely (if ever) watch MTP or Timbo, don't even check the schedule, but tomorrow will be the day I'm glued to the show--at least those moments Stephen is on. Can I say how much I LIKE that guy? Okay, I'm old enough to be his mother but what they hey--he is awesome and one of the reasons I'm enjoying my dotage so much!

3. I hope Colbert finds some way to inject truth into MTP.
The media wants to turn his campaign into a sideshow distraction, a way to further dumb down politics. Colbert has always surprised me by finding a way to use these comedic appearances to actually send a real message, but MTP is the place where truth goes to die, and I can't think of a worse venue for thoughtful exchange. Godspeed Steven, Godspeed.

4. Should I warn my dad
that Steven Colbert is a comedian? He is moderately progressive, usually finds Timbo annoying but always watches these types of show. Unfortunately, he never watches Comedy Central.

5. Leave your dad alone
to discover the glory of Colbert.

6. But think how disappointed he will be to discover
that the only person making any sense on MTP is a comedian.
