Des Moines Register Poll..."no poll gets and deserves as much attention"...

NBC's First Read said it best: No Iowa poll "gets (and deserves) more attention than the Des Moines Register poll by ace Iowa pollster Ann Selzer." That reputation was earned, in part, from their final 2004 pre-caucus survey, the only public poll to correctly predict the rank order of the top four Democratic candidates.

The bottom line: Clinton's surging; Edwards is slipping; and Obama's stalling. Clinton appears to be benefiting from her gender and from her concerted effort to woo older Iowans.

Reminder

Hillary 29%
Edwards 23%
Obama 22%

1. Wow, if NBC says it's true, then it's gotta be true!

4. Those numbers and my summer trips to Iowa lead me to question
all the Hillary hype.
While in Iowa this summer, I didn't talk to anyone who was supporting Hillary and I didn't see any bumper stickers for Hillary.

I did however talk to a lot of Edwards supporters and saw a lot of Edwards bumper stickers considering it is still more than a year from the election. Many of the people I did talk to were former Hillary supporters or thought she would make a great President.

I wouldn't' write off Edwards or Obama until after Iowa and New Hampshire.

10. Obviously you spoke with EVERY voter in Iowa and you inspected EVERY bumper...
:sarcasm:

I love these posts filled with anecdotal evidence. "I spent the past year in Iowa and I could not find one single solitary person who was NOT supporting HRC...and each and every bumper sticker I saw was for Hillary." I have proved her the winner.:eyes:

8. Gephardt had a 7 point lead over Dean in the November 2003
Iowa Poll 27% to 20%. He ended up at 11% caucus night. So she may come in 4th place just like him.. Polls at this point mean nothing.

11. Your'e right. HRC would be better off if she was polling in a low single digit...
sadly, for her, she appears to be leading in all the polls. Poor, poor Hillary.

13. What goes up can come down
This could turn out to be like 1984 without the comeback. Mondale 49% in IA, Hart a distant but surprising 2nd. Then a horserace. Mondale was saved in 84 by the primary contests being spread out over several weeks. Clinton may not get that chance.

14. You are correct. I am sure that she would prefer to be at the bottom end of polls.

I do not watch television therefore I do not see political adds but every media outlet in Iowa seems to be trying to push the fact that Edwards is faltering (this is from others who know I support him) If the media reports it it must be true? Murdoch and the pugs want a Hillary vs Rudi election. We cannot give it to them by default. All we have heard from the corp media is 400$ haircut and 28,000 Sq ft house. Why not force other candidates to answer those questions if they mean so much to the voters? Nothing of substance from the media at all- Ask yourselves why?
