A Hillary Campaign stop.No voter is invisible ,except if you have a question!
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 08:52 PM by saracat
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/10/whillary110.xml

At the final stop in Ames, Luke Gran, 22, a forestry student at Iowa State University, repeatedly raised his hand in the air during Mrs Clinton's 35-minute speech in a vain attempt to ask a question.

He jumped up and down in frustration as she finished off her waitress anecdote by saying: "I see these stories every day. No American is invisible to me."

Mr Gran, a campaign volunteer for John Kerry, the Democrat who lost to President George W Bush in 2004, was disgusted. "It's talking down to us," he said. "How does she know what I care about if she won't listen to my questions? It's terrible and it's not leadership."

His friend Adam Faircloth, also 22 and studying political science, said: "We wanted interaction but there was none. It was so top down."

1. I have a feeling we are to
see more of these types of stories as Dec/Jan looms - do you think she may have pissed off some in Iowa?

8. It's all they got...
Petty, childish criticism of her laugh, of scripted campaign events (as if that were unique to Hillary), to hoping against hope that Sandy Berger will be her downfall...

11. For the record. I have NO problem with her laugh and thought the berger story was worthless.
I think her not bothering to listen to voters and answer their questions will be her downfall.

3. A guy is pissed off because he didn't get to ask his question?
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 09:01 PM by MGKrebs
And this is significant?

Obama, who allegedly has 20,000 people everywhere he goes answers every question?
No wonder he misses so many Senate votes.

6. Read the entire article and it is that she answers NO questions. Whatever.
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 09:14 PM by saracat
And her stops are scripted to make sure only supporters are present.Sounds Bush like to me.Others may think different and view it as smart politics and self preservation.

14. I'm sure she is paranoid and running scared.
It's indicative of the panic within the campaign and ominous for the future of the country.

5. This is pretty silly.
I've attended political assemblies and believe it or not, a lot of people don't get their questions answered. Jumping up and down in frustration paints an image of a grade school student not a collegian.

9. Unfortunately, most candidates don't have time to interact with everyone who wants to talk to them
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 09:19 PM by ElizabethDC
The candidates are very busy people and very much in-demand. When I met Barack Obama last fall, even before he was a candidate, my friend and I tried to get his attention after an event so that we could get a picture with him or something, but he told us he was just too busy and he had to leave (even though there were only a handful of people there waiting). And you know what? He probably was. These are all busy people.

16. Not true. She held Q&As today.
Most of her events aren't intended to be question-and-answer, though it is included in some events (I suspect it has to do with time constraints.) She held some Q&A sessions today, per the Time Mag's Swampland blog http://time-blog.com/swampland/2007/10/the_middle_class_express_stops_1.html.

controlling audeinces to guard against a misstep.I do not think she wants a repeatof the "Rolph" incident and I can't say I blame her.

13. If you read the story, it talks how it was staged and filled with her people playing like voters
she took questions only from her planted people and not from the real voters.
that is what the story is about.

23. She answered three questions when she was here (in our Iowa
community) and skirted the income caps question once more and one of the questions was really one guy making some kind of personal assertion. But in all fairness she did take a few questions here on Sunday. I still prefer Kucinich though.

25. Well, she's been doing a bus tour all over Iowa the past couple of days
so I'm guessing that she can only take a few questions at a time so that she still has time to show up at the other events. I'm sure she's scheduled pretty tightly.

27. Ya Know... Something Is Going On Here At DU... I Watch Hillary Threads
and look down and see a pattern here. Just post anything negative about Clinton and check the names! Check the determined attacks on people who don't praise her, or who may have a different point of view.

It's useless to argue because I find they really feed on the replies, and unfortunately I have begun to simply post a snide reply or two and then just remove myself from the fray! I'm no glutton for punishment, I just think it STINKS and feel the need to throw a little of it back even knowing that it really doesn't matter what THEY may think!

Repukes are called SHEEPLE, I guess we're going to be called HEATHENS! Either way... follow the Pied Piper or get left behind! Democracy sure looks different in such a BAD way! Oh, wait... it isn't Democracy, that was something Americans used to recognize and believe in. Gotta find another word for this, just haven't found it yet!

Ta, Ta for now!

35. I'm not saying its all sugar and spice on this side.
We all have our moments.

But there is a marked difference in the amount of anti-Hillary threads vs anti-other candidate threads.

Hell there are more anti-Hillary threads than positive threads for other candidates practically.

36. I'm tired of all of them. I find myself looking for
anti-Hillary articles just to annoy people like you (no offense, but you know who you are), and that's usually not my m.o. I don't know who I'm going to root for, but I'm not a Clinton fan. I just find the Clinton contingent really annoying because of their relentlessness.

31. This has been Hillary's M.O. since 1992
She barnstormed around Wisconsin before that critical primary and there were a number of groups who were surprised at how inaccessible she was. She'd swoop in with her entourage, spew a stream of lies about Jerry Brown and swoop out without so much as a nod to her hosts.

37. Not too flattering. I can understand the Secret Service checking the place
out before hand, but filling the diner with people off the bus is disappointing. Maybe there were no other customers and after all, her "bus people" had to eat, too, but the staged spontaneous interaction?

I think the "Middle Class Express" is insulting and demeaning - it's been bugging me since I first heard it.
