I mean, I guess those who are flaming Obama for his refusal to use national symbols to pamder must wear the pin and have the ribbon on your cars...

1. No, and Hell no.
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 07:23 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
And i strongly doubt any non-troll would criticize anyone for not wearing a flag pin.

Criticize the politics of not wearing one? Sure. It's a legitimate image issue. But the thing itself? No way.

9. Why do people feed that which should not be fed, anyway?
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 07:33 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
I know we aren't supposed to note things like this, but that flag post is a masterpiece -- smear Obama then end with obliquing blaming Hillary. Pure disruption.

The sig line on that flag OP is among the least democratic sentiments in the entire Western canon:

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. - Plato

Sage words from the least democratic political thinker ever...

But I do often wear a Detroit Tigers cap. However, if I see someone not wearing a Tiger cap, I don't automatically assume that they hate the Tigers.

5. No
I paid a lot of money for my car and don't even put bumper stickers on it. I have placed a couple of the nifty DU bumper stickers however. One on my locker at work, one on my old work truck I once had (now deceased) and one in my window which faces the street in front of my house.

8. No. I support the troops by ...
-- helping take care of our Marine's kids during his two tours of the Litter Box.
-- sending goody bags to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
-- buying an on-line subscription to (please forgive me) Limbaugh's website for a friend in Kuwait who likes Limbaugh.

I hate to disagree with General Clark, but if folks over there wants to listen to Rush, that's what it is. If they want to listen to Tokyo Rose, so be it. I don't think they should be brainwashed against their will by higher ups, but I can see wanting to listen to a show that will lie to them about how everything's going swimingly. They have enough probalems.

I'm pissed they can't even get Playboy. In one documentary it was pretty plain these guys were masturbating to People magazine because it was the hottest thing they're allowed. (The result was that all these marines had become arch fashion critics.)

There was a Vietnam movie called Tigerland where the drill instructor said, "You are all going to Vietnam. Everyone has political opinions about the war. Those of you who are still alive in a year, we can sit down over a beer and discuss them, but all that matters right now is trying to keep you from getting killed."

I am also reminded of the scene in Full Metal Jacket where the editor asks private joker what purpose it would serve the guys in country to tell them they were losing, since they don't have the option to leave.

Armed forces radio should be programmed based on the secret ballot votes of enlisted men. Period. (Not top down, based on what the brass think they SHOULD enjoy.) It's for down-time. Whatever the hell they want to listen to, even if it makes me sick.

I have family over there and have a friend with a son over there. These are the things they want me to do.

The only other political sticker is Amnesty International. No flags or yellow ribbons. I don't want to risk be mistaken as a republican supporter of the war.

in November 2004, back when the united states died. Never will fly it again, never could see how putting any ribbon the car means a damn.

23. Sure, the ribbon is right above my "Choose Life" license plate
in the "Life is fragile, handle with prayer" plate holder, next to the "Terri was murdered" bumper sticker, by the Jesus fish, next to the warning that in case of rapture the vehicle would be unmanned.... Honestly, I saw every one of these crazy things on my way to work today. If bumper stickers were illegal there would be less road rage. Actually, I stay far back from cars like those for fear of colliding with them and having to interact with one of those morons.

28. Nope, the RW ruined the "support our troops" line
The right wing ruined the "Support Our Troops" motto, now it basically means "support the war in Iraq", unless you add something to it like "by bringing them home".

29. I have four in a row, truck tailgate, and they say:
yellow: support our troops
purple: make Peace it spreads
Black and yellow: God bless our troops - God forgive George Bush
Red/white/blue: Just pretend it's all OK

also a "Where's your W sticker now?" Bumpersticker
one that says: "Impeach Bush for blowing his job"
one that shows Iraq like an odometer rolling into Iran, and a sticker looks like got milk "got sons?"

also 3" magnetic numbers exchanged as necessary with the number of our dead soldiers with the sentence
"What noble cause"

Topped off by the DU sticker, and one that unnecessarily says: "I did not vote for Bush".

Oh, yes, I also have "stop" on the left taillight in black, and "Bush" on the right one.

All of this I am thinking of re-doing because as time goes on my fury about continued funding of the war is building and the blame is beginning to spill too wide for my comfort.
I am thinking of listing things like the 1.8 mil children the money of one week in Iraq would provide health care for instead and other parallels.

Which reminds me, I have to now write to my congress critter because she will sustain the veto of the Schip bill. So much to protest, so little time.

30. no, have "Visualize Impeachment" and college logos
CSU Chico and SF State; the combo should piss off the hard right. No flags, no yellow ribbons.
Have thought about having a custom-made ribbon in green that says "Save the frogs".
