"The use of the word “pledge” and the phrase “no U.S. troops” make that an extreme question. No candidate should be asked by a debate moderator to “pledge” to accomplish something where there is a possibility that unforeseen circumstances may make it impossible to fulfill the pledge. Instead, real journalists interested in real debate would simply ask how the candidate intends to handle the issue, without asking for a “pledge”."

'Stunning admission' by Clinton, Obama, Edwards is tantamount to a permanent occupation of Iraq

I love Dennis, but is he not playing politics with this. Maybe distorting truth?

1. I Can't Imagine A Circumstance That Would Make Staying
in Iraq a good idea. Can someone please enlighten me?

2. I cannot, but you missed the point?
Can anyone psychic or not promise there will not be ANY (none, not one, nada) troops at all in Iraq come 2013?

4. So You Think If Kucinich Had Said, "Barring Any Circumstance
that I can't even imagine occurring, I will...", he'd be okay?

5. Sorry I'm not following you.
What he should not have said is that the others made a stunning admission. No Dennis, it is not.

3. Oh Dear. I had to take formal logic 101 twice in college to pass.
And then it kept me out of the top places in grades. I never could put life into all those little letters etc and make it work in my art majors brain. Just starting off the question like that gets me up tight.

6. Do you mean that if question A is a bad question,
then no one should be stunned at a bad answer?

Most questions fielded in the non-debates we've seen so far are purposely slanted to get the most fodder out of responses.

I don't understand your question. Are you saying that, knowing the question is faulty, we shouldn't hold the candidates accountable for their answers?

If so, what is the question, again?

I wasn't stunned by the responses to that question. I got past "stunned" quite some time ago, when it became clear to anyone paying attention that many Democrats have no intention of pulling the U.S. out of the middle east.

I think it's appropriate, considering the non-responsive congress since nov. '06, for someone to point out that the people you may be voting for this time around also don't commit to putting "getting out of Iraq" on the table.

7. It's just opportunism all around.
The Media Heathers are trying to trip up the Democrats, and Dennis saw it as a loophole to exploit.
