2. No. The exit polls showed about a 5% win for Kerry. My guess...
is that they know more about the real numbers than they are reporting at this time.

3. I have visions of Florida 2000
I'm still hoping for an Edwards upset victory, even if they have "called it".

4. If for No Other Reason
Calling it while the race is this tight, if it turns out Kerry does win, I'd say someone tipped their hand the game is rigged.

6. Exit polls show that Kerry will win by 4-5 points.

16. NH
NH exit polls had Kerry & Dean neck and neck.

Why is one state's exit polls more reliable than another's?

7. Even if Kerry narrowly gets more actual votes...
Edwards wins this one, in terms of the public's perception. :)

Going back to their old ways.

11. I am a Kerry supporter and I voted "Yes"
Haven't these fools learned anything from 2000 about calling it too soon?

12. Did CNN show their exit polls?
They showed them in Oklahoma when the race was too close to call and if I remember right, they showed Kerry 30, Edwards 29, Clark 28. And that was wrong. Does anyone else remember it that way?

13. No, it's based on exit polling
Suggestions that the media could decide an outcome inconsistent with the actual voting results is ridiculous.

This is routine. It happens in every single election. It is not a media conspiracy.

15. Really?
Unless of course you forget Florida 2000, or the ever classic "Dewey beats Truman". But then, those were just minor elections.

17. they were right in Florida
more people DID vote for Al Gore. Or at least believed they did.

If you need to go back to 1948 to find another example, before exit polling, before computer analysis, before a lot of things, then I think my point still stands.

19. after 2000
the news outlets, especially CNN, changed their policies.

I'm also unaware of the claim that they mis-called Iowa and Oregon. Can you provide a link?
