1. For Fear That THEY'D Get Accused of Causing It?
Hell if I know....

Because then they would have to do something about it.

3. The first thing they would be confronted with
is where is concrete proof. WE all know the republicans have done it and will continue to do it. But until we catch them in the act we won't be able to stop them and have them arrested.

4. And Gerrymandering
Warning link is to a zip file.

This zip file contains two KML files for use with Google Earth:

gerrymanders.kml - 84 Gerrymandered districts
worst_gerrymanders.kml - 22 of the worst districts from the above.

6. Because I think some of them, especially on the Republican
ticket, have known about it all along and are afraid of being criticized for not saying something back in previous elections when it would have made a difference.

8. The elections are rigged against the poorer sections of the voter population
Both Dems and GOPers would rather only the richer voters have their voices heard so that the more populist candidates are not elected.

9. In one sense, ALL our rulers are "just trying to hold the whole ball of wax together"
Because there is more than one force of tranisition working in Amerika today besides the Big One, that being the Bushies' Tranisition of America from freedom to BushPutinist Tyranny, now well along.

On another level, I think, running through ALL the Ruling Class, particularly ass it becomes clear THIS tranisition is MUCH further along. Entropy and peak oil, are key components of this transition.

In that regard, ANYTHING which encourages suspicion of the System of American checks, balances, voting, and Rule of Law (even thohgh none ofthose things actually exist as more than illusion or PT Barnumesque) no matter wheteher it be true or not, is to be resisted.

I would place this motivation oreso at the feet of Democratic Enabler rather than Bushevik Deastroyers.

12. Perhaps that's how they got elected?
Or even if not, it casts doubt on the legitimacy of their own election.

15. If you think voters may be discouraged
By the time Nov 2008 arrives, voters ears will be bleeding and will more than likely be completely shut down.

20. You mean like Ned Lamont, Francine Busby, and Cynthia McKinney did?
It's been such an effective tactic in the past. Why indeed?
