Poll question: Who would change America the most?
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 12:24 AM by antiimperialist
It is my opinion that all our Democratic candidates to the presidency, if elected, would turn this country around.
But who among them would implement the most radical necessary changes making us say at the end of his/her presidency, "Wow. America has really changed for the best!"

2. Kucinich would like to change America the most, but Edwards
IMO would succeed in achieving the most change. Kucinich has trouble getting the people in Washington to work with him and to support his ideas. I think Edwards would be more effective in that respect. Obama would be next. Neither Dodd nor Biden have succeeded in changing much in Washington although they have been in Congress for a very long time. I think Edwards would be able to change things by appealing directly to the American people.

3. The most RADICAL changes, or the most NECESSARY changes?
The two aren't always in lockstep. Some radical changes can be entirely unnecessary, and some necessary changes don't have to be radical.

Impossible to answer, really--if you want to know who will take us the furthest afield from where we are at now, that's probably one of the fringe candidates.

4. I like your poll because all answers are right answers. It reminds us that
we're the good guys (and gal) and the Republicans are the bad guys.

I wish that were a simplistic generalization, but the Republican field is abominable. It's bad every election cycle, but it's notably bad this one.

The voters have to assist in the process of change. Massachusetts voters, for example, do their part and send to the U.S. Senate Ted Kennedy and John Kerry, forward-looking public servants with career-long dedication to widening the circle of representative government.

But Republican voters dominate other states' Congressional and Senate elections, and we get Jeff Sessions and Tom Coburn and so forth down the list of abominable Republican electees.

If the next president is Democratic, and I think he or she will be, we need more blue seats in both chambers of the 111th Congress. It's a team effort.

I voted for John Edwards in your poll but would be happy sitting next to and talking with anyone who voted for any of our field of candidates.

5. Kucinich and Gravel might effect some real changes
the rest would leave things more or less static.
