Clinton Stumps With Celebs in Vineyard

By DENISE LAVOIE

OAKS BLUFF, Mass. (AP) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to her favorite family vacation spot Saturday to raise money for her presidential campaign at a celebrity-studded event where she took some pointed swipes at President Bush.

Clinton - accompanied by her husband and their daughter Chelsea - smiled broadly and swayed to the music as singer Carly Simon and her two children, Ben and Sally Taylor, sang "Devoted to You" for a Martha's Vineyard crowd of more than 2,000.

Simon, along with actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, showered the Clintons with praise and predicted the senator from New York will be elected as the nation's first woman president.

"Is it Mrs. President or Madam President?" Simon asked a smiling Clinton.

The Clintons frequently vacationed on Martha's Vineyard during their years in the White House. The senator told the crowd that the family has been vacationing in the island for 14 years.

Bill Clinton told the crowd his wife would make the strongest president among those seeking to succeed Bush in January 2009 because she has the best plans to deal with national security, climate change, health care and education.

FULL story at link.

4. At least she didn't hold a fundraiser at a strip club, like Obama in Miami

Was he there on Erotica night or Stripper night?

7. LOL!
I suppose that holding it in a strip club is, at least, a little more honest, even if the honesty is unintentional.

6. about your quote:
"There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning" - Warren Buffet
That's this guy, isn't it?
Buffett is Obama meal ticket

8. Yes, and the reason I don't support Obama either.
The top two contenders make me sick, and I'm far from sure about Edwards.

But in the end, barring a mass awakening of the sheeple, we'll get the puppet the corporations give us and we will continue down the road to our ruin.

9. Warren Buffett is a hard line Democrat!

He lives in the same modest home he bought in the 50's. He has said several times he should be taxed a lot more. Most of his estate will go to charity. His daughter gives to about every pro choice candidate that knocks on her door. Mr. Buffett talks about being of the upper class, but he is not anything like the dirty 18.

10. He is, but why isn't he doing something substantial?
He's the second or third richest man on the planet, and he made it by doing things better and building things up, but with his resources he could do far more than he has.

Mellon-Scaife poured millions upon millions into his cause, with virtually no return, for most of a decade, just to get his message out. Where have the Democratic uber-wealthy been?

2. Thanks so much for posting this.
I love seeing the Clinton family together. Chelsea is probably the reason they are still a family. I will always remember that dear, hurting child holding on to both of their hands as they were leaving for a vacation (I believe in Martha's Vineyard), shortly after the scandal broke. Chelsea showed amazing compassion and character for one so young.

IMHO, if love is there, in spite of scandal and/or hardship, a marriage is always worth saving. Hillary's smile is, as usual, breathtaking.

5. "if you can't run your own house, you can't run the White House,"
or something like that...
I think Sen. Clinton has shown she's certainly able to do both.
