Obama's Grand Strand, South Carolina Rally - Draws Record Crowds For Area. (Local TV News Coverage)
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 12:57 AM by ariesgem
If there was any doubt he is a leading candidate for president, Thursday a rally at Coastal Carolina University answered that question. Nearly 2,000 people lined up in stormy weather to get a chance to hear Senator Barack Obama.
The Democratic candidate made his first trip to Horry County, and by all accounts, it was a big success.

Kimble Arena usually holds around 1,000 people but there were many more than that for Senator Obama. In fact, it was a standing room only crowd, despite the rain and severe thunderstorms.

............................................

This rally was the largest political rally to date in our area, beating every other candidate, both Democrat and Republican, when it comes to drawing a crowd.

1. I lived in SC for 6 years. believe me, the black populatio is NOT
the majority! I can't see any Dem winning that State! We're talking the heart of fundie town! I have no idea who they're going to vote for, but it sure isn't going to be any Dem!

Yes, I know we're talking about the primary right now, but I'd be surprised if Obama even won that.

5. I dodn't mean that Obama doesn't have any support from whites
in SC. Unfortunately, it was the most racist state I've ever lived in! He may get support from some whites, but I eoubt he could ever win the State primary!

6. How much of the black population make up the Democratic population in SC?
Blacks are responsible for a large portion of the people who make up the Democratic party, I wouldn't be surprised if they made up enough in South Carolina to make it or break it for any of the Democratic candidates there.

9. Blacks accounted for 50% of the Democratic primary voters in 2004
You're right; they are the key to victory at the primary level in SC.

8. Black voters made up more than 50% of the Democratic primary vote in South Carolina in 2004
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 06:22 AM by flpoljunkie
Black voters constitute about 10 percent of the U.S. electorate, but they made up more than 50 percent of the Democratic primary vote in South Carolina in 2004.
