Watched the Documentry "The US vs John Lennon" last night

And holy shit.......reminds a little bit of how the Dixie Chicks were slammed.

I swear it was like Ground hogs day in a different year....

The Rethuglicans took their playbook from them and enhanced it for the last 6 years...Carl Rove isright in the middle of this...

They realized that John Lennon had a following and they wanted to emasculate him, make it seem like he was a crazy hippy to the public, in the documentry they displayed the actual documents....allowing the phone tapping and harrassment....and it was Strom Thurmonds idea to get John and Yoko thrown out of the country by the Immigration department....

Funny thing is as soon as Nixon won the election in 1972 John wasn't as important anymore....

Did anyone else see it?

1. I lived through it. Sam Trust was the President of Capitol Records
and an acquaintance of mine. Sam was instrumental in getting the charges dropped that let John stay in the country. Sam should get most of the credit. I was working for Capitol Records at the time. G Gordon Liddy is an idiot. He says John Lennon was not an
intellectual. Just man that never matured. John Lennon did more than Liddy ever did for this country and he was not even a citizen. Liddy is still alive and was convicted of 9, count 'em, 9 felonies. Liddy is a coward and I'll tell him to his face. The book 'Will' was a piece of shit! I read it. Unlike other liars that criticize works of art and journalism without reading or witnessing it. :dem:

2. I have read about Liddy and the fact that this current administratin
actually hired him to do work for them is astounding.

And that was the point of the documentry...they made it clear that John was an intellect and that is what scared them most.....

Liddy and all of the others that were involved during that time have poisened our Democracy and we are still suffering from it!

Thanks for responding I find it facinating to actually have a conversation with people who were there....wherever there may have been.

3. I was in Dallas texas when I heard John had been killed.
I cried for a week. I think his music is deeper and more profound than anyone living today will ever realize. :dem:
