Let's get Kerry's negatives out of the way right now.
If we don't, Bush will use it. If we let it out now and deal with it sensibly, it will free Kerry up to deal solely with presenting his message to the American people.

What do you think?

4. Not a masochist. Just honest.
We have to consider what the Republicans will use against Kerry, and be prepared to deal with it sensibly. We can't afford to be Gored.

15. Hey I believe ya!
That's why I posted this question, earlier.

Plus... I think we're on the same side, with regards to supporting Kerry, as well. ;)

2. I agree. If you're a DEM
we mustn't bash Kerry. I still haven't warmed to Kerry yet but he is more than likely going to be our nominee. We need everyone's help in supporting Kerry so we can beat the shrub.

11. I don't think that is true
at least for this Dean supporter.

12. Sorry - but that's double BS
1) Dean supporters have a very strong bond with "their" candidate. Small wonder many of them are "militant" about Dean, and therefore not enthused about openly jumping to Kerry.

2) I think you're overlooking a simple fact: the strong bond with Dean is a direct result of Bush in the White House, not Kerry's candidacy. I believe that if the current trend continues -- and Kerry does win the nomination by a whopping margin -- that the common goal of kicking the monkey out will bring the overwhelming majority of Dean supporters into the ABB camp.

It seems to me you're asking hard-core supporters to praise their opponent(s) in the primary before the final whistle is blown: that's not only wrong, I think it's a plain foolish thing to expect. And not entirely respectful towards their strong belief in their candidate to boot.

6. Vogue

Kerry's theme song should be 'Vogue' (even though Madonna endorsed Clark). He's been posing for 40 years now.

I don't know if Kerry has an ambition to serve ... OR ... If he's simply serving ambition.

10. Hasn't GD2004 been doing this pretty consistently?
Not just with Kerry either... it's all about getting negative things about ALL of the Democratic candidates in the open - "for their own good," of course ;)

That and giving people seizures by invoking Ralph Nader...

13. No, I mean publicly.
As in: Kerry's own people ought to be putting this stuff out and informing the public about it now... so that if Bush decides to go on the attack with it, we will already have dealt with it.

The best defense is a good offense.

16. Oh - sorry I didn't get it the first time
I think a more prudent strategy would be for the campaign to catalog any of Kerry's perceived or actual "negatives" behind the scenes, and produce counter-arguments behind the scenes as well, to be prepared IF they are brought up. To bring negatives up in advance is kind of like shooting oneself in the foot.

And if Kerry's campaign isn't already in the business of preparing for attacks this way, they'd better start!

But whether real or fabricated they're coming, ready or not.
