Senator Leahy goes Hollywood! Lands a speaking role in new "Batman" movie.
CNN: August 14, 2007
Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Gotham)

Leahy has landed a role in the newest Batman movie.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – He's a veteran statesman and hard-hitting chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. But Sen. Patrick Leahy is set to leave the marble halls of Washington for the bright lights of Hollywood — at least briefly.

Vermont's senior senator has landed a speaking role in the newest Batman movie, CNN affiliate WPTZ reports and confirmed by Leahy's office.

Leahy is apparently a big comic book enthusiast, and actually served as an extra in the 1997 Batman installment: Batman and Robin.

The senator told the station he can't reveal the exact details of his role in the upcoming movie, but he did say he has landed a scene with its two stars, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger....

7. Speaking of the anthrax mailer, Coulter is in the movie, too.
She falls into a vat of toxic waste, and nothing happens. She's still Skank Woman.

6. God forbid
Leahy take two days away from his vacation to do a bit part on a movie. I'm sure his cell phone won't work on-set and they won't allow him to work on his Senate stuff with his Aides in a private dressing room during the hours and hours of inevitable down-time.

Get a grip, people!

10. I have a grip. We pay Leahy and the rest of Congress to defend the Constitution
and they aren't doing it. It is under serious attack, and Leahy has a special responsibility for defending the Constitution. No, he should not be taking time off to make a movie. If he doesn't want to defend the Constitution, he should step aside and let someone else do it.

18. what job are you paid to do
and why aren't you doing it right now? Huh? Why? And don't you dare ever step away from it and do something fun/interesting/relaxing/not-work-related!!!!!!!!

Okay, that example probably sailed right over your head.

Yes, Leahy is paid to "protect the Constitution", but he also gets to have a life, right? Or are you so willing to be so angry that you'd deny him even that? Yeah, thought so.

19. I take time off after I've finished my work.
The problem with Congress is that they left for vacation without having finished important tasks -- like impeaching Gonzales, Cheney and the Bush, protecting the Constitution and extricating us from the Iraqi sink hole. They have only begun their investigations of the crimes of the Bush administration. How could they have left? And where are they? Leahy is particularly responsible. He set a deadline for receipt of certain documents from the Bush administration. Have he received them? If not, what is he doing about it?

9. What! The Surveillance Act passed, Bush employees refuse to respond to subpoenas,
and he has time for this idiotic nonsense. So this is the real reason these guys don't want to impeach the president.

13. that must be a thrill for him
I remember when my wife and I lived in Vermont, Leahy had a fundraiser. It consisted of him showing the first Batman movie and he actually showed up with the batman mask. He loves that stuff.
