After seeing "Sicko" yesterday, universal healthcare is my #1
criteria for who to back for president! I'll be listening carefully to what each one has to say about it.

Every year in this country, 18,000 people die because they lack health insurance. That's six times the amount of people that died on 9/11. Every other civilized country has a government run health care, but the "powers that be" in this country have us all snookered, made afraid of it because it's "socialist". So we pay and pay and pay and die and die and die! It's got to stop, friends. It's got to stop.

1. I agree it should be the #1 priority

Universal health care will bring down a lot of corrupt organizations in this country too.
I hope Al Gore runs. He has the experience and backbone to tackle such a huge project.
Michael Moore claims to be Al Gore's biggest fan, and there's good reason for that.

2. do you have a link to Gore's policy on healthcare?
I've been searching and only found something from 2000. As for our current candidates, Kucinich is talking about universal single-payer healthcare --but I haven't found anyone else so far.

BTW I would absolutely love Gore to run--he'd win!

3. I saw it over the weekend. A very powerful film to be sure.
I thought it was even better than F911. It is hard to believe that there are candidates that think a huge tax dollar give-away to the insurance companies is the "solution" to the problem.

4. it makes you want to move to Canada!
I have a daughter who's seriously talking about it with her fiance. Says it might take five years to become licensed there and everything (as a school psychologist), but they are going to look into it.

I have another daughter who will probably move to France sooner or later--she's wanted to but this is one more reason. (she's a French-to-English translator.)

My husband and I will be retiring in about ten years or so--so we'll see where the country is on healthcare at that time. We have good employee coverage now, but wonder what happens after that.

5. Kucinich is the ONLY one candidate
who has a "true" plan without ANY profit. He is awesome. He is NOT afraid to speak up and he kicked ass today on the Tillman Hearings to (I don't recall) Rumsfeld!!
